Grooming January 12, 2022

Forestville:  Yesterday during the day Andy Bully groomed and tracked all trails inside 17k.  In addition, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will be grooming all the way to NMU on Wright Street via the TP.  Trail should be very good.  Let us know what you see and send pictures.  No word on any FV grooming today as of press time but trails will be in very good shape regardless.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

Business school graduates of a certain age will have played Buzz Word Bingo.  You know the scene, we’ve all been there.  Some over educated lightweight is droning on about some nonsense peppering his/her prose with an excess of jargon.  After, what seems like an eternity, we are told to “think outside the box” or some such overused buzz word when one of the attendees blurts out, “Bingo!”, a smattering of snickers rolls through the room. Prior to the forced sitting event, one of the attendees knew how things were going and had circulated cards with all the current industry buzz words organized in random sets of rows and columns.  Pretending to take notes, when we were told to self actualize, or, repurpose, we would mark our cards in hopes of being the first to complete a row.  We would be amused by the “Bingo” outburst but the presenter was always clueless.  So, I was taken aback when Paul suggested I was the jargon peppering presenter in the above scenario. My goal is to avoid such blather but I fear the shoe fits. Bully Grooming and Ginzu should have been footnoted and I apologize.  In years past we have included a decoder ring to help the uninitiated navigate word soup items found in our WTLGR.  Perhaps we need a reprise.  In any case, fearing Paul was not the only one lacking a Bingo card, “Bully Grooming” is short for use of our wonderful snow tractor, Pisten Bully.  The Pisten Bully churns up snow and ice, turning either one into race ready corduroy.  The Ginzu groomer also does a great job but it is a lighter piece of equipment that can to great work in the proper condition.  I’ll put together a more complete listing along with other useless definitions.  I do hope this helps.

Saux Head:  Craig is grooming today.

.

Big Bay Pathway:  Big Bay pathway was groomed Saturday.

Meditation and Hidden Grin have single track set. Reggie reports Skiing on Meditation and Hidden Grin is very good.  Bear mountain trail has been rolled but has too many wet and low spots. We won’t be grooming it for a little while.

Fit Strip:  Niel groomed and track set all trails Saturday.

Snow Bike South Trails:

South trails groomed and cold temperatures are likely firming things up but please use low pressure.  Trails are likely still soft.

Snow Bike North Trails:

The following trails were groomed Sunday 1/9:

The Pines, Penstock, Lower and Upper Blue Heron, Silver Lead, Sand Box, and Collinsville.

Mildcat, Wildcat, Ramblin Man and Midnight Snack all groomed on 1/8

Mildcat and Midnight Snack still somewhat soft, other trails are firm and smooth.

The trails from Tourist Park to BLP are also in very good condition.
