2019 February 25, Grooming Report;
Today’s report is brought to you by the Noquemanon Skijor Club. Without nice folks like the Skijor Club we would not have the great skiing we have come to expect.
In any case, if you have not done so, please renew your membership. There are K markers available. Your name and favorite picture can be here too.
New pictures from anyone will be appreciated. I really mean this. I agonize missing some Trail Builders.
And this just in, the mysterious “myself” from the list of volunteers is none other than Jon Mommaerts. Be sure to thank him for his hard trail work.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Continued heavy snow today. Groomers will get out as soon as conditions warrant.
Way Too Long Grooming Report:
Again, Given the repetitive nature of today’s report, we will move the Way Too Long Report up in the order.
Ok, new rule. A drop of 24 millibars in 24 hours deserves to be a named storm. So, the Sons and daughters of William the Conqueror will be pleased as St. Adela’s number came up. As you know, grade inflation threatened to dilute the grooming report’s standards. There was a time when one could look at a school cancelation as evidence of a significant weather event. That has become less true in this post-modern society. NOAA puts out a winter storm advisory at the drop of a chook. There were even reports of school superintendents checking to see if we named the storm before closing school. Once they began closing for cold weather the entire system fell apart. We didn’t want to feed into this standards decline and have eschewed the naming practice entirely this season. However, listening to 60mph winds whipping across 18” of freshly fallen snow is too spectacular to simply be called a snow event. It literally shook the house. Being outside on such days is mandatory; even if it was only quality time with snow removal equipment. Wasn’t it grand?
