2019 February 26, Grooming Report;
Today’s report is brought to you by the Turner Family. Without nice folks like the Turner Family we would not have the great skiing we have come to expect.
In any case, if you have not done so, please renew your membership. There are K markers available. Your name and favorite picture can be here too.
New pictures from anyone will be appreciated. I really mean this. I agonize missing some Trail Builders.
And this just in, the mysterious “myself” from the list of volunteers is none other than Jon Mommaerts. Be sure to thank him for his hard trail work.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Andy and the team kept their powder dry and the dinosaur in the tank (sorry to mix metaphors) so they could use both today. Trail were cleared by ken and Jorgin. Next the trails were double packed with the Bombi followed up by a groom. They groomed the Noque to 14, Animoosh, connections, Chiwaji bypass, Mukwa, Migizi, Gookookoo and zhing

Way Too Long Grooming Report:
I’m sure you were both hoping the Bombi would come out for this event. What a great thing. Normally following a heavy snow event the groomers have to first running hot laps (snowmobile with no implement) just to get enough air out to pull a roller. Following rolling snow can only be groomed after waiting several hours (maybe overnight) for the snow to set up. Sunday’s snow had a fairly high water content and last night’s cold temperatures have created a snow that will set up very quickly. The Bombi packing and then grooming will yield spectacular skiing right away. The weather forecast looks to keep this snow quality and optics in prime condition for quite a while.
Too Long to Read Report:
Yesterday’s Grooming Report received feedback from some incredulous readers. They thought I was joking about enjoying the weather yesterday! Now I fear my leg has been pulled. We would like to hear from anyone that actually didn’t get out just to enjoy the storm so they can explain themselves. All weather is good for something and if you don’t think so you need to pick up another sport. Randonee skiing is one such sport. Snug in a canyon of big timber, the wind overhead is just that; over head. Snow shoes, back country skis, A.T. gear or snow removal equipment, it was all fun yesterday. Check out the photo Justin provided. . I tend to avoid calling my back country powder skis and climbing skins “A.T.” gear because Randonee is such a great word. Contrary to common belief, it does not mean, “can’t Telemark in French. No, faire de la randonnée it is to go for a hike or trek. Even if you don’t get a face full of powder like in Justin’s picture, half of the fun (and more than half the time) of randonnée is going up hill. Everyone can enjoy a long walk in a blizzard. I hope you enjoyed the storm.
