Join us today at 1:00 PM in celebrating the Honey Bear Classic Ski Event held on the scenic Big Bay Pathway located in Big Bay, MI, 25 miles north of Marquette. This family-friendly event includes youth and adult ski events, prizes, refreshments and a warming fire. Have your photo taken with the Honey Bear! See more details below.

Forestville Real Grooming Report: Andy was able to cut branches and BOMBI groom on Noque out to 17, Animoosh, Chiwaji bypass, Bagwaji, Migizi, the connections and Gookookoo. It will be a winter wonderland. No matter where you go, it will be fantastic today. I trust you will get out there.

Saux Head: All trails rolled and dragged yesterday and Tim will be track setting this morning.
Fit Strip: Trails groomed and lights working. According to Jenna it was excellent last night.
Big Bay Pathway: Today will be fantastic for the Honey Bear Classic this coming weekend. Come to Big Bay for a relaxing day in the woods. See details below:
Snow Bike Trails:
South Trails: South trails: East of 553 is plowed and solid.
West of 553 is groomed and a bit softer. 3-4psi
The only trails not open are: Eh-line and OCR. We will be cleaning up today and then working on Old Camp Ridge (OCR)
Caution…..wear goggles or some sort of eye protection as there are still low hanging branches.
North Trails: Last night all North Trails except Wild Cat were groomed with two passes. Blue Heron and Collinsville by the power lines remain a little soft due to wind drifts. Recommend low tire pressure (3-4 psi) or snowshoes. Wild Cat is not groomed yet but was snowshoe packed.

Too Long To Read Report:
I expect at least one of you remembers how the grade school sick day would end. Following the toasted cheese sandwich and ginger ale you got to lay on the couch and watch Gilligan almost get rescued. It is about 3:00PM, School is out and you can hear all your buddies outside going to the beach. Your best “I’m starting to feel better” delivery is answered by, “you look a little pale… you had better take it easy”. You would hope your mom had some chores so you could sneak out and play. Well, after my “near death” experience the grooming report writing critic was rather dismissive of male intestinal fortitude in general and mine in particular. She played the world’s smallest violin for my listening pleasure and gave me a little dirt to rub on it.
On what will be one of the most spectacular winter days imaginable I don’t want to miss it. So, I’ll (hope to) see you out there; I’ll be the one sneaking out when mom isn’t looking.
Honey Bear Classic is This Saturday!
Join us on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in celebrating the Honey Bear Classic Ski Event held on the scenic Big Bay Pathway located in Big Bay, MI, 25 miles north of Marquette. This family-friendly event includes youth and adult ski events, prizes, refreshments and a warming fire. Have your photo taken with the Honey Bear!
The Honey Bear 12K or 24K classic challenge around the Bear Mountain Loop will be a timed event with a $15.00 suggested donation and unique prizes. Youth events will be held on the rolling 7K Hidden Grin Loop or the 6K Meditation Loop. A $5 donation is suggested for these events. Participants may explore the Pathway on snowshoes after all skiers are on trail. Everyone is welcome to gather around the trailhead fire for the Annual Weenie Roast, refreshments and light snacks.
No Classic Skis? No Problem! You can check out a set of classic ski equipment courtesy of the Noquemanon Trail Network at the NTN Forestville Trailhead on Friday between 10am and 4pm for the Honey Bear Classic event. Snowshoes also available. Return equipment on Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
The Honey Bear Classic event helps support the grooming and maintenance of the ski trails in Big Bay. If you frequent the Pathway, the NTN “Powell Pass” is available through www.noquetrails.org, which also includes the Saux Head Trails, or feed the pay pipe located at the trailhead.
