2019 January 10, Grooming Report;

Thank you Trail Builders:

Today’s report is brought to you by the tireless folks that groom the snow bike trails.  Marquette County is at the epicenter of the snow bike world.  You should see not only the spectacular trails in winter but also the equipment invented by Mike and the team.  Please see more below in the Fat Bike Section (some areas of the planet call “Snow Bikes” Fat Tire Bikes” and we don’t want to confuse anyone).

If you have not done so, please renew your membership.

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Carlson notes that the trails had 4” to 5” of very  fluffy powder this morning and it was still snowing at 6:00.  He is out with the gator and it is right on the edge of what can be groomed with the Ginzu.  He is grooming Animoosh and Noque’ to 17 and will track if all goes well. He then plans to groom and track Chiwagi via the bypass.

As always, your feedback is appreciated.    Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.

Saux Head: Trails were rolled Tuesday and tracked yesterday but expect new snow on the trails this morning.

Fit Strip: expect new snow on the trails this morning.

Big Bay Pathway: Trails are now well covered and the Big Bay team will be out grooming getting trails ready as soon as possible.

Fat Bike Trails:  We have received several suggestions for adding snow biking to the grooming report and this reporter is all for creating this new section. If you have not been on our single track trails in winter you really don’t know what you are missing.  I will gas on in more detail in the days to come but suffice it to say, they are awesome! We are working in the update timeline so I apologize for being behind the power curve today.  I know the crack team is busy just as the Nordic team given the recent lake effect snow events.  We will always include a link to the Single Track FB page where people can see real time comments, pictures and video of the trails.  Of course you can also post your own information on the FB page and you are encouraged to do so. Too Long Too Read Grooming Report: Some readers questioned my position on Thomas Hart Benton’s “shoveling only after the snow event” policy. Remember, he was a southerner and the automobile had not yet been invented so he never had to worry about a snow pad building up. Furthermore, he spent 30 years in the senate and snow is a passing thing in D.C.  So, in conclusion, while he was right on in opposing the bellicose position of “54.40 or Fight” slogan, I feel he got the walk shoveling thing wrong.
