Forestville Real Grooming Report: Andy was a little short on time this morning so he groomed and set track on Noque to the pines and Animoosh. He will be back later today to do some pond work and more grooming. 1-2″ of powder.

Saux Head: Trails were rolled Friday and track set Saturday

Big Bay Pathway: Sven reports trails are well covered but still tool little snow for good grooming and good skiing. However, I would add, for my part, skiing the Big Bay Trails with too little snow is still great. If I could only have one pair of skis it would be bc xc skis for tromping around in areas like the big bay trails. So, although they are not yet ready for prime time.
Trails are now well covered and the Big Bay team will be out grooming getting trails ready as soon as possible.
Snow Bike Trails:
South Trails: Incredible amount of fat bike trails available right now on the south side.
We will be plowing south. So the main route will be dialed by noon. We broke the Rokon yesterday so the skinnier trails will be delayed.
The normal SBR is wide fast and smooth.
The extreme DH panked trails are really coming around. They are not for the faint of heart.
7-10 psi on the SBR.
5-7 psi on single track.
3-5 psi on the panked trails.
North Trails: All traditionally groomed since last snow and cold temps have all trails very nice. Recommend 7 lb psi. The intersection of Blue Heron and Penstock is often slippery so a detour is groomed for bikers without studs.

Way Too Long to Read Report: There is a truism that states no two snow flakes are the same. Of course this is unknowable. In fact, I postulate no one has studied every single flake and proving a “non-existence” of anything is the most difficult type of proof anyway. Regardless that, I am not talking about vague philosophical issues like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin; No, I am talking about real important issues; like, what the snow is like. I remember visiting some friends on the east side of Lake Washington just west of Seattle. I was living east of the lake; several hundred feet closer to sea level where snow was quite rare. We were sitting on the deck basking in the sun one winter day when in a few minutes the clouds rolled in and large “wads” of snow began to smack the deck and our face. These were white furry balls the size of jumbo olives smacking and splatting on the deck. Dave, very calmly said, “oh look, wads”. Being new to the northwest, I had never seen “wads” west of Lake Washington; or, anywhere else other than that day. Last night I saw “Styrofoam pellets” bouncing on the driveway. It took me back to a day in third grade. I remember it was a Wednesday because we had band class and I was carrying my trumpet home after school. The Styrofoam balls were building up and I was able to grab a car bumper at the corner of Pine and Hewett and shacked all the way home with my trumpet case on my lap. Of course, now days shacking is frowned upon in many circles. In fact, I bet many parents tell their children it is dangerous to ride behind a car sliding on the snow holding on to the bumper! Of course, kids are smart and will (I hope) do the proper thing if the snow is right. Anyway, snow showers and cold weather will keep our snow good for shacking and skiing through the six day forecast. See you out there.
