November 23, 2018; Grooming Report:
Warm overnight temperatures have our groomers parked today but skiing will remain very good on the Noque’ to 17k and Animoosh. Chiwaji bypass, Muckwa, Waaban, Migizi, and Gookookoo have been rolled but are still rather soft and with the soft snow it is best to avoid.
Way too long report:
At 10 AM yesterday I was the first skate skier to enjoy the hill at 11k! This raises several important issues. First, why did so many skiers take the Animoosh by pass of this wonderful hill? Did they all have dogs or cats with them? I think not. If I had to wager, I bet they didn’t want to climb back out of the hole at the bottom. Don’t they fear getting caught? What if someone saw them skip the hill without a dog? Were there unscrupulous traffickers lending dogs to cover up their performance? Second, I must also mention, there were only six sets of skate tracks going up to the power lines. At first I figured there must have been some sort of national emergency that I missed in my haste to ski. It couldn’t be that people simply stayed away in droves. I began to get concerned. Then I remembered the famous French statistician
Siméon Poisson and the random queueing process named for him. Of course, I should add, he never even studied the process but if you give something a French name it sounds way more cool. Anyway, according to the process, it may be that the hoard of skiers were all bunched into a window of time where I simply missed them. That must be the case. Why else would the trails be so empty when the skiing and weather were so good. I skied everything that was either rolled or groomed and it was awesome! By my count I covered about 25k and none of it twice. The first pass rolled sections of Chiwagi by pass and Gookookoo were a little soft but the optics make up for it. However, just to follow up on my study of the random skier arrival rate I will chat with Zuckerberg and get your actual location yesterday. If you simply skipped skiing you will have some explaining to do.
See you out there.
