Grooming January 11, 2021

Forestville:  Andy groomed the skate lanes on Noque and Animoosh to 17k as well as Chiwagi by pass.  Classic tracks are getting rather worn in high traffic areas and especially around turns.  There are a number of thin spots dirt in some areas.  However, 98% of the entire system is in very good shape.  Expect very good skiing again today.

Fit Strip:  The Fit Strip was roll packed the week of new years but  I expect this warm spell at the lower elevations has rendered the trails all but unskiable.  Think snow.

Big Bay Pathway:   Reggie skied Hidden Grin Sunday and reported a great deal of foot traffic has destroyed the classic tracks.  Think snow.

Saux Head: All trails were skate lane groomed on the 1st.  MRT4 skied Saux Head earlier this week and indicated it was in rough shape but skiable.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

Last groom on Sunday 1/3/21

Trail base fast and firm.  Excellent riding conditions.

Coverage is good with frequent rocks and roots showing through.

A couple of caution areas where trails are icy:

              – On the Penstock Trail just before it connects to Blue Heron Trail

              – On the BLP Trail where there is run off from the penstock

South Trails Grooming:

South Trails were groomed the week of New Years.

Mt. Marquette loop, Main loop, Enchantment loop, and Old Camp Ridge……OCR still needs some work but is ridable.

Also groomed Eh-line but its not going to be ridable for a bit yet.

*****warning****

Watch out for the ice on the bottom of Mt. Marquette loop (aka Jeep Trail). We sanded it the best we could, but its still going to be slick.”

WTLGR:  Folks that have not been on the trails may think this has been a poor ski season.  I beg to differ.  Sure it is thin and there are some bare spots.  But seriously, skate skiing has been very good to excellent every say since before Christmas. Andy and his team have babied the so just right.  I don’t like to ski when the base is hard pan and you have to grab the boot bottom until your toe knuckles turn white.  That is not what we have at all.  It is a smooth hard snow base with a bit of the groomed service on top every day.  It is a joy.  We have been blessed with ideal weather to baby this snow.  High temperatures have never been over 32f.  Today looks like yet another beautiful winter day for out door sports.  I expect I will run out of dumb-things-I-godda-do by noon so I’ll see you out there,
