South Bike Trails.  Wow!

Forestville:  Super hard dry snow was left alone last night.  Sometimes trails are best left as is and this super cold weather is one such time.  Expect excellent skiing regardless (but dress accordingly).

Fit Strip:  New snow will be groomed asap but no word by press time.   Let me know if you ski the Fit Strip and tell us how it is.

Big Bay Pathway:    The Big Bay Pathway was groomed on Saturday the 6th.   Meditation and Hidden Grin are groomed and tracked.   Excellent conditions on the ski trail!!  👍👍👍😎🇧🇻🇧🇻

Saux Head: Tim Groomed and set track Saturday morning.  The trail system is in very good shape.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

The entire North Trail system was groomed on Friday, 2/5/21 following Thursday’s new snow ranging from 1″ at the lower elevations to 3″ at the higher elevations around Forestville.

The base remains solid with very good to excellent conditions overall.

The new snow helped to cover some of the icy sections on the BLP Rocks Trail, but users should still use caution when near the penstock as run off and ice formation may occur.

In addition to the usual trails, the additional snowfall allowed volunteers to groom the MILDCAT TRAIL, opening up an additional, more technical route for winter use.  Check it out if you’re riding on the north side.

Caution Areas: Runoff from the penstock is collecting on the trail in 2 areas of BLP Rocks- in the ‘ice cave’ area under the penstock and further upstream, near the crossing across the river-  leaving icy sections of trail that require care.  Trail users can throw some sand found in the garbage can under the penstock on the ice to improve traction.  Those without studded tires or boot crampons should use caution.

South Trails Grooming:  Cleaned up:
Blue Loop, Main Loop, Enchanment Loop.

Plowed drifts off of:
Old Camp Ridge, Greywalls, and other notorious spots.

Trails are amazing right now. Wear warm clothes, be safe, and have fun.

Best regards, Mike B

WTLGR:  Its settled (social) science… until it isn’t.  I thought everyone pulled for the team that beat your team.  Yet, last night, no less than two die hard Packer fans were supporting the other team.  Or, the old adage, early to bed, early to rise…   Carl Sandberg likely had the best closing stanza but I was in my 60s  before I found out it actually ends with, makes your girl go out with other guys. So, I would always get up early with the arrogance of the righteous and ski or bike in the sub-zero weather. Now I understand, if you have to remodel that bathroom or roll all those sox into little balls, there is no harm in doing it when it is -9 and skiing/biking when it is actually nice out.  I’ll see you out there (but I really do have a project that can’t wait so it won’t be before the crack of noon).
