Grooming March 4, 2021

Today’s report is brought to you by Jeff Shipkey and Family.  The Shipkeys are   trail builders.  Their significant financial contribution helps NTN bring you Great skiing, biking, hiking and the silent sports world we have come to enjoy.  If you see them, please say thanks.  Grooming and grooming reports are brought to you for your skiing, biking and literary(?) enjoyment.  If you enjoy what we do, please consider a financial contribution to support the cause.

Forestville:  Andy groomed most trails inside the 17k mark with the ‘Bully.  Expect excellent skiing for both classic and skate.  NTN’s state of the art ‘Bully tiller shaves ice into a fine powder and then lays it out in beautiful corduroy and classic tracks.  NTN’s older tillers in prior years did not spin at nearly as high an RPM nor were they so perfectly balanced.  In the old days, a thaw would ruin the trails until more snow.  Now it just makes for fast snow.  Please get out and enjoy.

Fit Strip: We are in the freeze end of the freeze/thaw cycle so expect a hard track.  The fit strip receives some foot traffic too so you may see some frozen foot prints.

Big Bay Pathway:  Tuesday’s thaw may have left us with some icy ruts.  Let us know if you have first hand information.     The Big Bay Pathway was groomed on Monday March 1st.

The Big Bay Pathway is open for skiing for March 2021👍👍😎🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻 Boe

Saux Head:  Tuesday’s thaw may have left us with some icy ruts.  Let us know if you have first hand information.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

I had the great good fortune of chatting with two intrepid cyclists yesterday.  I was pulling out of the BLP office parking lot and they were ahead of me in the driveway.  When they waved me through it was apparent they were in no hurry.  So I asked them about trail conditions.  They were 20 miles into a 35 mile Polar Roll sporting studded tires.  Both experienced locals, they had never seen the trails so hard.  There were no bad ruts so life was good.  For us undercapitalized, use extreme caution.

Caution should still be exercised in the sun exposed areas as the ice may still exist just below the snow which could shear away resulting in loss of traction.

South Trails Grooming:  The Polar Rollers (see above North Trails) comments cover all trails in the area.    Let us know if you have first hand information.

Way Too Long Grooming Report

Now a pejorative, I recall when the term Boomer was one of reverence.  Remember NFL Hall of Fame member Boomer Esiason, or Boom Boom Jeoffrion for the sound of his slap shot?  So, Jeff wins the “What’s a Palm Charger” competition.  He was closest to the pin anyway.  Other entries thought it had something to do with seltzer water or those old mechanical devices used to imprint carbon paper (another generational reference) with the numbers on a charge card.  So, although it is not used to charge pencil skis, he at least understood it was some sort of electrical device.  So, look at it this way, your boomer grand parents were the tech savvy ones if they used an electric rolodex (don’t know what that is? Ask your great grand parents) called a Palm Pilot.
