Merry Christmas Grooming Report;
Thank you Trail Builders: Thank you Trail Builders: Thank you Trail Builders: Today’s report is brought to you by Bud and Marilyn Hart. The Hart’s are feted at the 15k mark on the Noque’. Without folks like the Harts we would not be able to enjoy the great skiing we have come to expect. So, if you see them, please say thanks.
If you have not done so, please renew your membership.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Groomers take one day off all year and are with their families on Christmas. Yesterday’s grooming produced wonderful skiing and the cold dry snow remains excellent today after just one fallow day. Yesterday Kirby and Andy set track and grooming skate lanes on Noque to 17, Animoosh, Bagwaji, Chiwaji Hills and bypass route, Muckwa, Migizi, Gookookoo, Zhing, Papasay and Boozhoo.
As always, your feedback is appreciated. Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.
Saux Head: Trails are groomed weekly.
Fit Strip: Trails are groomed about once per week.
Big Bay Pathway: Too little snow in the woods so trails are closed. The Big Bay Trails are groomed for classic skiing and are through the rugged hills south of Big Bay. They are spectacular but need ample snow to cover the rugged terrain. We groom as weather permits so think cold and snow. Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.
Way Too Long Grooming Report: If you didn’t ski yesterday you made a mistake. Even the ungroomed section from 17k to Co Rd 510 was great with 2” of fluff on top of the groomed skate track. The dead calm air belied the mid 20s (F) so body temperature management was easy. Getting to 510 and making the turn can be problematic if under dressed. By my count there were three of us that rang the bell at 510 and two of us that skied the Chiwagi hills. The down hills are still what can only be described as dangerous but the up hills are fantastic. We are still waving the “no snow plow” rule but one conscientious skier booted down the second hill in order to climb out. If more than two people ski either hill on any given day we will reinstate the NSP rule and require chickens to boot it.
Too Long To Read Section: I know all the kids are running down the stairs to see what the Grooming Report brought. Well, it is drivel again! You were expecting sugar plums? I received some guff for calling my December 23rd Christmas shopping “early”. Of course everyone knows the only way Christmas shopping on the 23rd could be called “early” is if it was before 8 AM. Normal Christmas shopping is done on the 23rd and late shopping is on the 24th. I apologize for the error. I should add, one reader commented that shopping on the 23 was actually “last minute” shopping. We checked the ISP and found it was an alien from Venus.
See you out there.
