December 29, Grooming Report;

Thank you Trail Builders: Thank you Trail Builders: Today’s report is brought to you by MonaJean and Vince Rose. MonaJean and Vince are feted at the Animoosh junction on the Noque’. Without folks the Roses we would not be able to enjoy the great skiing we have come to expect. So, if you see them, be joyous and say thanks.

If you have not done so, please renew your membership.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Falling temperatures and cold lake effect snow fell all afternoon and through most of the night keeping Kirby, Andy and Karl busy all night.  Kirby reported at 3AM that all trails inside 14k had been groomed and track set and that Andy and Karl were roll packing 8” of new snow to Co Rd 510 in a white out. After rolling they plan to groom and track set to 510 as well.

As always, your feedback is appreciated.    Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.

Saux Head: Tim reported that he will be out packing or grooming/track setting in the morning depending on snow depth.

Fit Strip: Trails are groomed about once per week.

Big Bay Pathway: Too little snow in the woods so trails are closed. The Big Bay Trails are groomed for classic skiing and are through the rugged hills south of Big Bay. They are spectacular but need ample snow to cover the rugged terrain.   We groom as weather permits so think cold and snow. Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.

Way Too Long Grooming Report: Not getting the full forecast amount of snow, one of our crack groomers commented this was a (alliteration expletive deleted)poor storm.  To which I countered, “It depends on what you are wishing for.”. For alpine skiers or children looking to have school closed, absolutely.  However, for Nordic skiers this was just the right kind of storm; wet snow, then cooling temperatures and dryer snow sticking to the wet snow and just enough to build base but not to make for soft pole plants.  I would call it a splendid storm. Clear skies and temperatures in the teens with all trails freshly groomed; today will be as good as it gets.  See you out there
