December 30, Grooming Report;

Thank you Trail Builders: Thank you Trail Builders: Today’s report is brought to you by  the nice folks up from Chicago this week and the folks that must have given them $20 to say nice things about the grooming report.  Without folks buying day passes we would not be able to enjoy the great skiing we have come to expect.  So, if you see them, say thanks.

If you have not done so, please renew your membership.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Last night Karl groomed and re-track set the Noque’ to 17 and Animoosh.  Friday mornings grooming on all trails except the Chiwagi hills will still be in very nice shape given the cold dry snow.  With all trails open it is important to know when a given section was last groomed.  As such, we have added yet another grooming report section below.

As always, your feedback is appreciated.    Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.

Saux Head: Craig rolled yesterday and Tim groomed and track set all trails.  Skiing is excellent on all trails.

Fit Strip: Trails are groomed about once per week.

Big Bay Pathway: Too little snow in the woods so trails are closed. The Big Bay Trails are groomed for classic skiing and are through the rugged hills south of Big Bay. They are spectacular but need ample snow to cover the rugged terrain.   We groom as weather permits so think cold and snow. Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.

Way Too Long Grooming Report: I do hope you got out yesterday.  It was awesome! It took three groomers all night to get trails ready for us to goof off and skiers were happy. It was so crowded I actually saw two skiers. There were a lot of tracks at the 510 end of the Noque’ and the parking lot was nearly full. The snow is cold and dry so trails will continue to be in very good shape even on section not freshly groomed last night. The smart guys and gals with put in another long day today.

Too Long To Read Report: As a horrid child I was well aware of Santa’s clairvoyant abilities.  Now, as a horrid adult I think his talent has waned. After all, I got everything I could have ever wished for; so much so that I was feeling guilty. So, on the way to the trail head yesterday I stopped into my favorite sporting goods store to pick up a few late gifts for the grooming report writing critic in the family. With the cold forecast I picked her up a new balaclava; not like mine, you know, the kind that has too small a hole so it has to be worn covering your mouth or pushed onto your chin and it is so tight it give you an over bite.  No, I got her one that is shaped for skiing; it keeps the wind off your ears and neck and rides just right between the chin and mouth.  Then, with the bright noon day sun I thought a new pair of flip up Nordic ski goggles would be nice; not like mine with the crack and related cellophane tape or the missing nose piece. No, I got her nice ones with tinted contrast lenses and a replaceable clear night lens. I tested them yesterday and I think she will love them.  Five or ten years more testing and I’ll be sure.  Don’t tell her; I want it to be a surprise.
