2019 January 26, Grooming Report;
Thank you Trail Builders:
Today’s report is brought to you by Tom & Kathy Leone. Without folks like Tom and Kathy we would not be able to enjoy the great skiing we have come to expect. So, if you see them, say thanks. New pictures from anyone will be appreciated. I really mean this. I agonize missing some Trail Builders.
If you have not done so, please renew your membership.
ALSO, there are K markers available. Your name and favorite picture can be here too.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: It is Noquemanon Ski Marathon race day. Please stay off the course today. It is the only day of the year in which we request skiers stay off until the race is over. Come watch if you are not skiing in the event. If you are looking for places to ski I may suggest Sauxhead, Valley Spur, Big Bay or Blue Berry as a good alternatives.

Saux Head: Trails groomed weekly
Groomed and tracked 1/24/19
Fit Strip: All trails groomed and tracked early in the week but the longer outer loop is still thin. Jenna reported this morning that, although not freshly groomed it was good skiing.
Please give feed back. I would add, people walk on the ski trails so there are foot prints.
Big Bay Pathway: Dennis groomed Meditation and Hidden Grin Thursday and are in great shape. We need more snow to ski the Bear Mountain loop.
Snow Bike Trails:
South Trails: South trails were groomed Wednesday. With the cold dry grippy snow riding should be spectacular. Mike askes everyone to be smart with your clothing choices and tell people where you are going and when you will be back. You can get a long way back there on a bike and cold weather is nothing to mess with.
5-7 psi on single track.
3-5 psi on the panked trails.
North Trails: I got word this morning at 1:26 (just before bar close I hope; if he was out grooming then I hope he wore a hat. It was -18f at press time) that all trails were groomed and the drifting spots were cleared. Recommended 4-5 psi.
Of course you can also post your own information on the FB page and you are encouraged to do so. Here is the link:

Too Long To Read Report: No less a philosopher than Joe told me we would be getting our money’s worth today once the double digit below zero Fahrenheit forecast became clear. It takes colder than -10 to get snow to act like something other than snow; more like sand. This is especially true with the young snow we see today. Joe’s thought is that we will have more to enjoy and we should savor it to the end. It is kind of like when you are getting to the end of a great novel you want to squeeze every paragraph because you know your friends will be gone. After all, there is no pending sequel after Gatsby ends up face down in the pool (sorry, should have given a spoiler alert). Of course Joe is an animal that actually runs 100 miles for fun! So, for Joe the event may be like Mocking bird or some other 20th century American classic that won’t be in your life more than a few days or weeks at most. No, for me I will be like saying good-by to Anna. I had gotten to know her for months and then she throws herself under the train (oops, sorry, again, no spoiler alert). Only the great grooming report writer Tolstoy could turn that into a happy ending. Let us hope everyone has a happy ending today.
See you out there.
