In any case, if you have not done so, please renew your membership. There are K markers available. Your name and favorite picture can be here too.
New pictures from anyone will be appreciated. I really mean this. I agonize missing some Trail Builders.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Groomers are cleaning up the skate lanes in the Noque to 17k as well as Animoosh and Chiwagi by pass.

Deep snow on trail.
As always, your feedback is appreciated via reply to this email or to FB. Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line. See the Nordic skiing FB page https://www.facebook.com/NTNNordic/
Saux Head: The rest of the Race Loop was rolled and dragged Saturday morning and, the Peep O Day Loop and most of the Race Loop was groomed and track set. Skiing will be great again today.
Fit Strip: Yesterday’s bike race has left the trails in poor shape for skiing. Neil plans to groom later today. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Big Bay Pathway: The trails are open and groomed. Meditation, Bear Mountain and Hidden Grin are all in excellent condition!
South Snow Bike Trails: East side of 553 is groomed and open (Jeep, Shirley’s, Chapel and Granite Point). Please run lower pressure of 2-3psi.
Foot traffic in this deep soft snow ruins it for the people paying to have groomed snow bike trails. If you know any trail walkers encourage them to use snow shoes.
North Trails: Sunday riders found foot traffic had rendered the North Trail “The Pines” un-rideable. The Penstock and BLP Rocks were still in good riding condition with 3-4 psi. Blue Heron set up very well ridable with 4psi, thanks to the boot traffic stayed off the Blue Heron.
Last night groomers got out on Silver Lead, Collinsville, BLP Rocks, Penstock and The Pines. All are freshly groomed. These trails together with already set Blue Heron should be in good riding conditions (3-4 psi) today. Our special thanks goes to Tom Shaw for repairing our grooming machine and making a platform for deep snow.

Too Long to Read Report: You may both know already but we snuck out of town last week. With the great skiing this year one may question why anyone would vacation elsewhere. A letter poured in yesterday speculating as to tropical destinations. Of course, board shorts surfing is always a great option, but travel is often best on the shoulders or even the off season. Off season you enjoy life as the locals. Dinner reservations are easier and cab rides are yours for the asking. We didn’t surf or ski but rather took in museums and night life. We even went to restaurants (three times a day). Nearly a century ago an enterprising young restaurateur hired an artist to help drum up business. He drew caricatures of leading grooming report writers and hung them on the wall. It was so successful he branched out to the performing arts and beyond. Ninety+ years later it is still a great place for dinner before a show. Tucked down an ally one would think reservations would be unnecessary but with a smash hit show across the street you had best call ahead. Following the show you can return for a night cap in the bar upstairs. It is what people do when there are no good ski trails close by. All these city folks want to come here on vacation so we return the favor. Walking to the subway on streets lined by U.P. Jacobsville brownstones I was reminded of the late great grooming report writer, Fred Rydholm. He was lecturing to a packed house at Kaufman Auditorium and waxed eloquent on the critical role Marquette has played on the world stage. Fred expanded on the subway built by Charles Harvey, the afore mentioned brownstones and the sky scrapers financed by Lewis Kaufman. Fred, the consummate orator summed up his remarks in his booming baritone, “Without the U.P. New York would be nuthin (sic)…they’d be Nuthin!”.
