Forestville Real Grooming Report: Andy is Bombi Grooming everything inside 17k for the Monday morning skiers. Later in the week the worm looks to be turning. Bombi groomed and tracked 3/9/19 to ponds, Ginzu to TP (but Walker said it was a slog at best. Still, he and his partner soldered on to 510 yesterday; strong move).

Too Long Grooming Report: Later in the week the weather worm looks to be turning. We have been blessed by sub freezing temperatures all winter. The U.P. is God’s country for many reasons but being blessed with 90 consecutive days of hard wax skiing has to be one of the biggest reasons. Thaws and even night time thaw will begin to be more common in late March so we had best dust off our klister spatulas and de fartage. So too do we get to dust off the raging debate over even using de fartage in the first place. If you think the grooming report HQ has raging debates you should hear the racket over at wax tech recommendations department. Depending on which sage grey beard you wish to follow, one can either ruin a good pair of skis and destroy the planet with wax solvents or get sold a bill of goods and a wives tale by people that like to sell copious amounts of soft wax for the hot wax and hot scrap aficionados. Of course I know the real answer but would like to hear what the flat earthers have to say on the subject. Please do share your views.
Saux Head: Tim completed the grooming and track set Saturday. Great skiing condition.
CAUTION: The Plunge is not being groomed for the rest of the season; due to the recent snowfall there is now a dangerous low clearance under a large Hemlock that hangs over the upper end of that trail section. Think about that for a minute. What a snow year.
Parking is only available at the main Trailhead at the east end of the lake.
2” or so of new snow Sunday so skiers will likely find new snow on trails.
Fit Strip: Trail groomed night of 3/4/19. 2” or so of new snow overnight so skiers will likely find new snow on trails.
Big Bay Pathway: The trails are open and groomed. Meditation, Bear Mountain and Hidden Grin are all in excellent condition! 2” or so of new snow overnight so skiers will likely find new snow on trails.
South Snow Bike Trails: Trails have been in great shape on both sides of Co Rd 553. Groomers will be out in the morning grooming this 2”+ of new snow.
Earlier in the year we listed the myriad equipment used by the wizards of the woods but sometimes less is more. When the snow is just right you can’t beat dragging three tires. Now that I have placed it in the public domain patent counsel will likely give me a ration of well deserved guff.
Foot traffic in this deep soft snow ruins it for the people paying to have groomed snow bike trails. If you know any trail walkers encourage them to use snow shoes.
North Trails:
Rambling Man, Silver Lead, Upper Blue Heron and The Pines were groomed and repaired on Friday, and three dead trees on The Cedars were removed. All groomed North Trails are expected to be in good riding conditions for Saturday except: portions of Upper Blue Heron and Silver Lead will likely be soft especially in warmer temperatures (take roads if unridable), and Wild Cat is not groomed and not ridable
Foot traffic please use snowshoes on Silver Lead, Collinsville and Blue Heron.
