December 13, 2019 Grooming Report

THE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company. I should add, I have studied the etymology of “chalet” and think our facility is close enough. So, without grooming report critics objection, I say, it is a chalet, not “the trail head building”.

If I only had one pare of skis it would be back country skis. I got done with the dumb-things-I-godda-do list about 3 PM and there was way too much snow for anything else. One can always ski BC. In the ungroomed areas snow was over my knees even on skis. Going down the steep hills on Bagwagi the powder was sluffing down in front as I pushed the snow. Just as alpine skiing or any other weather dependent sport, at least half the fun is being in the environment. The woods yesterday were spectacular. I have never seen the snow this deep in early December. Enjoy.
Forestville: Groomers rolling and then grooming and track setting on Animoosh and the Noque’ to 14k. they may get a few other trails but it is slow going. Enjoy the new snow but expect soft trails.

Big Bay Pathway: The Big Bay team has completed brushing from the storms on Hidden Grin Loop. With this new snow trails will be in good shape. Tracks will be set as soon as this next snow event is over.

Fit Strip: Fit strip is groomed and in excellent shape. Neil reports it is the best he has ever seen.

Snow Bike South Trails:
East of 553 plowed, variable conditions.

Main and Greywalls will be plowed this afternoon.

Snow Bike North Trails: Heavy snow yesterday will have groomers busy. Check the FB page for current information.
