December 28, 2019 Grooming Report
Yesterday on Migizi
Forestville: Bombi grooming to Co Rd 510. Andy took two passes on the Noque’ inside 14k in an attempt to get a good track. Inside 14k the hard base did not groom well so Animoosh and the other trails inside 14k were not groomed since yesterday. Thursday night’s Bombi run on all trails inside 14k made for a hard smooth skate lane and rock solid classic tracks. I did ski them yesterday and it was great even late in the day. These trails will be in the same condition today but the downhills will be lightning fast so take care. The section from 17k to Co Rd 510 is in excellent shape and that is the best skiing terrain anyway. I trust I will see you out there.

Way too Long Grooming Report: The Solstice Thaw of 2019 has broken! For millennia man (gender neutral term) has given names to dangerous and destructive weather events. A name gives us an anthropomorphized entity to focus angst. Over 5,000 years ago Neolithic grooming report writers went to great lengths to give meaning to such events. In what is now England and Scotland we see massive earthen and even stone structures used to measure the solstice. Imagine the ancients attempting to make sense of the changing ski conditions. There was quite a debate on the proper name for this event but given the Druid’s extreme efforts to identify solstice thaws some five millennia past I thought it was obvious.
Saux Head: The trail system was groomed and track set today, Friday, 12-20-2019. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
Big Bay Pathway: The Hidden Grin and Meditation Loops were groomed on Friday evening, 12/20. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
Fit Strip: Fit strip is groomed once per week or as needed. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
