Grooming February 24, 2020
Today’s report is brought to you by Fox Marquette: Fox Marquette is a Double Black Diamond sponsor on the Single Track trails in Marquette. Without the support of folks like Fox Marquette we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.
Trail Builder sections and Snow Bike trail sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.
Forestville: We did a Ginzu skate lane clean up of the high traffic areas of the Noque’ and Animoosh to 14k including Chiwagi by pass and then down to the Tourist Park and NMU Campus.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
I know there is more winter out there but it feels different now that we have had a real late February thaw. Please don’t confuse a late February thaw with the typical January thaw (which we did not see this year). In late February we actually get some radiant heat from the sun. I half expected to see some kite boarders out but not a board or boat in sight. I would have gotten the kayak out but it was buried under a prodigious drift. Regardless that, what a day to be outside. Here is the third shot of Hogback in three days. It looks different every time.
Saux Head: All trails were groomed and track set Saturday the 22nd. I expect best skiing will be after today’s temperature gets above freezing. Please let us know what it is like today.
Big Bay Pathway: Denis groomed Monday the 17th. I expect best skiing will be after today’s temperature gets above freezing. Please let us know what it is like today.
Fit Strip: Neil tilled all trails yesterday after the cycle cross race and will track set today, the 24th. If you do ski the Fit Strip please let us know what you found.
Snow bike trails format comments:
I do hope riders used good sense regarding air pressure during the weekend thaw. Please be conscious of your track depth; if you are sinking in please drop your air pressure I didn’t see the ST trails yesterday so am unsure if they even got soft. Last night’s freeze will have them firm again this morning. If you have any first hand information please do pass it on.
