Today’s report is brought to us by the NTN Grooming Staff and Volunteers. If you see someone that is providing required services, please thank them. Please do what you can to help. Buy local.
Skiers will note a sign at the trail head regarding social distancing. Please do avoid close contact on the trails and remain safe.
Please help us continue to groom as long as possible. You may follow the link https://noquetrails.org/product/nordic-fund/ and contribute or feel free to contact the office or reply to this grooming report. No contribution is too small.
Trail memberships can be purchased on the web site. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.
SPRING SCHEDULE IN EFFECT: Trail Head is closed and the privy is locked. Practice save social distancing and enjoy the beautiful skiing.
Forestville: Lori and Nick Ginzued the Noque and parts of Animoosh to end of Pines, Chiwaji Bypass, and Waaban. They tried to hit sweet spot between no skiers and sun setting with mixed results. As long as there wasn’t an after dark skier leaving fresh grooves, what was groomed should be pretty good today. They did not reset tracks. Snow is getting thin. Animoosh from trailhead to powerline is very thin.

Way too Long Grooming Report: I was all set to go over some of the interesting(?) items I found while cleaning the garage but that will have to wait for a slow news day. Today we have fresh grooming and big surf. Both need additional commentary. First the grooming: Very soft snow yesterday left deep ski tracks that would have been problematic had they been frozen in place. As such, Lori set the grooming schedule inside the batch window between the last skier and freezing temperatures. Needless to say, threading such a needle is delicate business. You want to be sure to groom after all skiers are off the trail. In addition, you want to be sure the corn snow is of such a consistency that it will maintain some air rather than become solid ice. With high temperatures forecast to remain below freezing today and tomorrow, skiing will be fast and smooth until at least Thursday when temperatures are forecast to reach 38f. I am very anxious to test the trails to see how great it is. The down hills may be dangerous so be careful. After all, you don’t want to get injured before completing the back end of the biathlon; surfing. Everyone looks forward to April surf so they can use their 6 mill suits and 7 mill booties and gloves. See you on the trails and in the lineup.
Saux Head:
Several bare spots have developed so grooming has been suspended for the season unless the Mother’s day storm warrants it.
