December 14, 2018 Grooming Report;
Thank you Trail Builders: Today’s report is brought to you by Ron Thorley and Superior Express Care. Ron and Superior Express Care are feted at the 19k mark of the Noque’. Without folks like Ron and Superior Express Care we would not be able to enjoy the great skiing we have come to expect. So, if you see Ron or any of the folks at Superior Express Care say, thanks. If you have not done so, please renew your membership.
Forestville Real Grooming Report: Yesterday was too warm to groom but cold overnight temperatures allowed Andy to clean up the skate lanes on the Noque to 17, Animoosh and Chiwagi via the by pass. Classic tracks have a few days on them but are in good shape and very hard. The Noque from 17k to Co Rd 510 was rolled Wednesday so it is skiable but there are no tracks. The Wagis were also rolled Wednesday and there are tracks in some areas and will be good skiing too. Weather over the next few days will have hard fast snow in the morning and softer after noon. This thaw will not hurt our base as it is forecast to freeze each night.
As always, your feedback is appreciated. Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.
Saux Head: Last Saturday Tim and John groomed and tracked the entire system groomed and track set. Skiing is excellent.
Fit Strip: Trails were groomed last week and are groomed about once per week.
Big Bay Pathway: Too little snow in the woods so trails are closed. The Big Bay Trails are groomed for classic skiing and are through the rugged hills south of Big Bay. They are spectacular but need ample snow to cover the rugged terrain. We groom as weather permits so think cold and snow. Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.
Way Too Long Grooming Report: I felt like that guy in the Gary Larson cartoon. You know, the one where one golfer is holding the other by the neck and rubbing his nose in the sand trap yelling, “Bad golfer, bad golfer, now look what you’ve done!” Then the third golfer is standing on top of the bunker shaking his head saying, “No, no, no. That won’t help. You’ve got to catch him in the act.”. How could I double book myself at 6:30 AM? I know there are hundreds, well, scores… well, ok, counting me and my mom, four people waiting for the report. Who books a 6:30 AM meeting? Well, ok, it was me so I don’t really have any excuse. Anyway, even though it was too warm to groom we do like to provide an update. Please rest assured, our crack team evaluates what to do with any given condition.
See you out there,
Sondo
