December 20, 2019 Grooming Report

Forestville: Andy performed a Ginzu skate lane clean up on the Noque’ and Animoosh to 14k. Then he is going to work on clearing Bagwagi. The plan is for A FULL BOMBI GROOM TONIGHT.

Trail Head Construction Update: Concrete will be poured today. The doors will be open to ventilate. Please take care to protect the wet concrete. Workers will be busy boys and girls today as the clock waits for no one and concrete has a short working window.

Way too Long Grooming Report: There are always to-do items in the way. The trick is to get at them early or (or better yet, ski first). Yesterday I had 30 quadratic equations to solve before I could go skiing. Am I the only one out of practice? Being a math anxiety sufferer I never got speedy at something that was easy as far back as the middle kingdom. So, today I plan to mix it up. I understand a bus left Chicago at 6 AM while a another bus left Big Bay going half as fast. I need to figure out where they will meet. Right after skiing I will find the bus schedules.
Saux Head: Trails were roll packed yesterday. The plan is to groom and track set today.

Big Bay Pathway: The Big Bay Pathway was groomed on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Hidden Grin and Meditation loops are in excellent condition. As a reminder, the Bear Mountain and Ridgeline loops are closed due to logging operations.

Short section where logging road being used was groomed and is in tolerable condition. We kept tight to the right side and will hope the loggers keep to the left. Should work out ok.

Fit Strip: Fit strip was groomed and tracked Friday morning but expect several inches of fluff on top.

Snow Bike South Trails:
Chapel, granite point, main, Greywalls plowed last night. Everything that’s open is firm, 4-6 psi.

Border Grill connector is firm, but has a significant water hazard. Be careful or use summer trail until we are able to reroute to drier ground.

Snow Bike North Trails: trails are generally in good riding condition with a few softer spots. Recommended tire pressure: The Pine/Penstock/BLP Rocks 5 psi; Rest of the trails 4psi.

THE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
