Way too Long Grooming Report: I trust both of you know the skiing is great. Some casual skier may look out the window and decide the skiing is not good. I didn’t get out yesterday but no less a sage than Joe said skiing was excellent. December’s short days, overnight freezing temperatures and low sun angle mean we are losing little if any of the ample base. I expect the base has transformed and conditions are spring corn in some areas. We are blessed with modern grooming equipment. Before power tilling groomers such as our Bombardier (AKA, Bombi), skiing would be an ice crust until new snow of just right water content was able to stick to the old base. Now we are enjoying this technology. The weekend Bombi run broke up the crust into so many grains of corn. After daily grooming the tracks and skate lane are smooth, consistent and fast. I really do want to stress how you should not be scared off by this thaw. Much of the world ski these conditions all the time. Areas that rely on snow making see these conditions every day. I do hope one of you will comment on how you found the trails today. We really need feed back. I fear I am way off in my ski condition analysis and some in the grooming report writing critic’s guild are convinced I am. Some of us are double booked already so I will lack first hand knowledge again today.
Saux Head: The trail system was groomed and track set today, Friday, 12-20-2019. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
Big Bay Pathway: The Hidden Grin and Meditation Loops were groomed on Friday evening, 12/20. Both trails are in excellent condition. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
Fit Strip: Fit strip is groomed once per week or as needed. I expect the freeze has left some ruts and a very fast surface.
Snow Bike South Trails:
