December 7, 2018 Grooming Report;

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Andy and John were out all day yesterday rolling and grooming all trails in the system. Packing 2 to 3 feet of snow near 510 had them both tired and wet by the end of the day.  More work is needed up there to get it ready for grooming and track setting including cutting tree branches weighed down with snow.  Today Andy is grooming and setting fresh tracks on the Noque’ to 17k,   Animoosh, Mukwa and Migeeze.  Please see the WTLGR below for comments about trail names and how to keep them straight as well as what equipment used.

As always, your feedback is appreciated.    Send in pictures and you too can get your K marker moved to the front of the line.

Saux Head: Tim and John will roll as soon as their schedule permits.

Fit Strip: Trails are open for skiing and groomed as time permits.

Big Bay Pathway: Too little snow in the woods so trails are closed. The Big Bay Trails are groomed for classic skiing and are through the rugged hills south of Big Bay. They are spectacular but need ample snow to cover the rugged terrain.   We groom as weather permits so think cold and snow. Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    In the olden days we had the “Sondo Decoder Ring” section of the grooming report.  It was pulled from the regular report as some in the Grooming Report Writers Guild thought we were padding our word count.  Of course, a great many grooming report writers made their living by the word count.  Getting lost in some of Tolstoy’s “large, loose and baggy” scenes I can see how some would feel he was padding.  But no; the grooming report’s goal is not to throw around jargon for the sake of it but rather to aid skiers to understand what to expect.  Eric responded with a plea inform readers still too young to remember the Decoder Ring days.  Tomorrow’s report will cover equipment used as well as trail names.  I would add that material now but do have to dash to the salt mine.  So, as we used to clip out the news paper schedule of some thing or another, now you can use your snip tool and save your own decoder ring from tomorrow’s edition.
