Andy Bombi groomed and track set on the Noque From the ponds to 14k and Animoosh, Mukwa, Waaban, Migizi, Boozoo, Zing and Chiwagi by pass. Way too Long Grooming Report: Yesterday’s to-do list was daunting. By mid-afternoon I could see things were not going to be completed. That drywall was not going to sand itself. After a dope slap I realized, it would be there in the morning and I was out the door. I was met with heavy snow showers and mixed sunlight; it was spectacular. By the 14k mark snow was covering my ski tips but was so light it made no effect on the ski. The skate deck was firm and wide and pole plants were solid. The surface was fast (even if the skier was not). Then, upon my return and the to-do list, it was just like elves and the shoemaker; well, except for the elves part and the fact we get to ski on groomed trails with carbon fiber equipment. My to-do list was (and is) still daunting but it looks better with a measure of endorphin.
Saux Head: Trails were roll packed Monday after several inches hit the Saux Head snow belt so no classic tracks. Saux Head’s track setter is in the shop so it will be skate lane only for a few days. I expect Saux Head also received at least 3” of new snow but it is fluffy even after sitting overnight. So, although you may find an un-packed trail, skate skiing should be quite nice. Remember, classic skiing will be without a groomed track.
Big Bay Pathway: Meditation and Hidden Grin are both open and freshly groomed yesterday. Trail is in excellent condition.
Short section where logging road being used was groomed and is in tolerable condition. We kept tight to the right side and will hope the loggers keep to the left. Should work out ok.
Fit Strip: Fit strip was groomed and tracked Friday morning but expect several inches of fluff on top.
Snow Bike South Trails:
Main loop and Greywalls plowed this morning, east side and border grill will be touched up just after dark. Conditions fairly firm, 4-5 psi, except border grill softer.
Snow Bike North Trails: trails are generally in good riding condition with a few softer spots. Recommended tire pressure: The Pine/Penstock/BLP Rocks 5 psi; Rest of the trails 4psi. Wild Cat not groomed.
THE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
