Today’s report is brought to you by  Jim and Betty Steward.  The Stewards are  Legacy Sponsors.  their significant financial contribution helps NTN bring you Great skiing, biking, hiking and the silent sports world we have come to enjoy.  If you see Jim or Betty, please thank them.  Grooming and grooming reports are brought to you for your skiing, biking and literary(?) enjoyment.  If you enjoy what we do, please consider a financial contribution to support the cause.

Forestville:  Doug is running the Ginzu down to NMU’s campus as well as cleaning the skate lane on the Noque and Animoosh to 17k.  The ‘Bully groomed classic tracks will remain in excellent shape.  Light traffic and cold snow on the skate lanes means great skiing everywhere.  Enjoy.

Fit Strip:  The Fit Strip was groomed and tracks set on the upper loop.

Doug reports we were all hoping for a lot more grooming action in the fit strip this year but the light snow year has kept the groomers parked more often than ideal.

Big Bay Pathway:    Nick and Boe rolled and groomed the Big Bay Pathway on the 24th after the snow fall. Meditation and Hidden Grin are tracked and in excellent condition.

With the new snow the trail is in great shape 👌

Boe. 👍👍😎🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻🇧🇻

Saux Head:  All trails groomed and set track  25th.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

Wildcat, Ramblin Man and Midnight Snack received late night groom on 2/25 Rest of north trails groomed 2/24 Conditions slightly on the soft side

Be prepared for ice where trails go under the penstock

South Trails Grooming:  I expect much of the South Trails were groomed but no word by press time.

WTLGR:  I do hope you got out yesterday.  Its like we live in a U.S. Ski Team training facility, only better.  You don’t get the vast number of “K” or the wooded beauty at signature locations like Soldier Hollow.    Compare our 50k of ideal natural ‘Bully groomed  snow with their 8.5k on man made snow.  On top of that we have nice temperatures this week.  I expect you both think below zero skiing is no big deal.  True that of course but, what a hassle.  I mean you have to nail the clothing and being solo 15k from your car can be unnerving when you notice its getting late and there are no tracks since 19k.  I know being one that enjoys winter sports one would think I enjoy the cold.  Not even a little.  That’s why I always ski with a balaclava, flip down visor and a pack with extra clothes and supplies.

You see, I am convinced hell is going to be cold… and I’m going to be there a long time so I don’t want to be cold now too.  I know all the first century sources clearly describe a hot place. The fire and brimstone imagery is powerful to be sure.  Regardless that, the great fifteenth century  grooming report writer Dante saw it differently.  I expect England was cold when he wrote.  Sure there are a few circles of hell where fire is involved but I expect to skip right past that burning coffin thing in the 6th.  I think there is some boiling in the 7th   and  some feet burning in one of the pouches of the 8th but flames are not the dominant theme of any of the first 8 circles.  Again, I expect to skip right to the 9th anyway.  This confusion about Dante’s Inferno as fire is just a poor translation.  Inferno is hell in Italian so Dante’s Inferno is just his hell.  There was no connotation of fire in the title.  Well, anyway, I think he got it right. Now I just hope to avoid the level where my head is in the ice block too.

See you out there,

Sondo
