Forestville: Andy is cleaning up the skate lane on Animoosh and the Noque with the Ginzu all the way to Co Rd 510.
Fit Strip: The Fit Strip will be groomed and track set today, the 27th.
Doug reports we were all hoping for a lot more grooming action in the fit strip this year but the light snow year has kept the groomers parked more often than ideal.
Big Bay Pathway: Groomed on the 24th after the snow fall. Yesterday’s thaw may have the trails glazed. Let us know what you find.
Saux Head: All trails groomed and set track 25th.
Snow Bike Trails:
NORTH TRAILS
Lyle reports the freeze thaw cycle of last 2 days has the trails in less than ideal conditions.
Sun exposed and south facing trails are becoming exposed and in many cases have an icy surface.
This is especially true close to the river.
Blue Heron Trail is very icy and treacherous as you come up from the river to the dam overlook.
Soft conditions have also resulted in some rutting which then froze and are difficult to groom out without additional snow.
Grooming:
2/26/21: Upper Loop (Silver Lead/Peter’s Sandbox/Collinsville/BLP Rocks/Blue Heron/Upper Blue Heron) + Rambling Man
2/25/21: Wildcat and Midnite Snack
2/24/21: Lower Collinsville/Penstock/The Pines
South Trails Grooming: I expect the freeze/thaw cycle has hit some of the south trails. No word on grooming by press time. Let us know what you find if you get out.
WTLGR: First of all, I must apologize for implying certainty regarding Dante’s travels to Oxford during his exile. I know Boccaccio’s speculation on his travels have been called into question. I should have made note. Regardless that, I bet his bathroom didn’t have a heated floor wherever it was so cold feet were likely an issue. In any case, he got the hell is cold thing right in my estimation.
More importantly, I feel compelled to respond to 50% of the readership. It seems Charlie felt yesterday’s commentary on cold feet in hell was off the subject. The suggestion was for some kind of a warning to help readers know when to skip the WTLGR. I am reminded of Forest Gump’s analogy comparing life and a box of chocolates. Don’t you hate it when you get the one with the weird pink stuff? (Ever since the first experience I poke them in the bottom and put the pink ones back but don’t tell anyone.) Anyway, Charlie would like something like the expensive Whitman Sampler candies where there is an index on the box so you do know what you are going to get. It seems like cheating to me but we have out technical folks working the problem.
See you out there,
Sondo
