Grooming February 7, 2020

Today’s report is brought to you by George, DeAnna, Bernie and Winnie Stien:     The Stiens are trail builders on the Noque’.  Without the support of folks like the Stiens we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect.  If you see them, say thanks.  I would add, the grooming report staff think the deep snow sign pictures are cool or we would have dug it out to show the full sign.

Trail Builder sections are available.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

Forestville:  Andy is cleaning up the skate lanes on high traffic areas including Animoosh and the Noque’ to 14k and the Chiwagi hill by pass.  Then he will Ginzu groom to the Tourist Park and NMU.  I expect very good skiing and plan to go.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

I know you both bound down the stairs like kids on Christmas ready to tear open the grooming report to find out about yesterday’s ski/bike outing.  As it turns out, I went old school yesterday.  You are both likely too young to remember when getting a “mag” trainer was the thing that kept you from getting “spring bike butt”.  The magnetic resistance was far better than friction or pneumatic technology and was second to only the hydraulic resistance systems.  So, in the days before snow bikes one would “count spiders” in the basement for an hour or two.  I know its hard to imagine how one’s schedule could get filled up to the point where the ski/bike ride was squeezed out but there it is.  The schedule efficiency of jumping on the trainer can’t be denied.  I should add, if you squint and pretend, it is just like those trendy attractive folks with the fancy house in the Peloton TV ads.

Saux Head:  All trails were groomed and track set Tuesday, the 4th.

Big Bay Pathway:  The Big Bay Pathway was groomed on Monday, February 3rd.  Hidden Grin is in Excellent Condition and preparations are underway for the Honey Bear this coming weekend.

Fit Strip:  Neil groomed the Lit Loop Monday night.

Snow Bike South Trails:

One note, that section from under 553 up to the snowmobile trail is NOT OPEN. It will be open for the  Polar Roll Race.  It is not good for riding yet and it is dangerous as it crosses the snowmobile trail.  Please do not ride this section.

Trails very firm, some icy spots may be under thick pines and hemlocks.

REPORTED 2/6/2020

Both groomers are out of town this weekend, but trails should stay very good despite minor snow. Drift zones may get drifty.
