January 2, 2019 Grooming Report
Today’s report is brought to you by Fernie, Tonks & Bear Stevens (Andy Stevens). The Stevens sponsor the 7k mark on the Noque’. Without the support of folks like the Stevens we would not have the great trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.
Trail Builder sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.
Forestville: Ken did a Ginzu skate lane clean up on the Noque and Animoosh to the Pine Plantation as well as the Chiwagi hills by pass. Skiing will be excellent again.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
Yesterday on Gookookoo
Comments on yesterday’s conditions: Wow was it great yesterday. I do hope you did take advantage of the Bombi grooming all the way to 510! Light air, moderate temperatures, full sun and ideal snow. I know it is getting old to keep hearing that but remember, this too shall pass. Enjoy it while you can. The six day forecast looks ideal.
Reasons to ski today: A Ginzu clean up returns a one day old Bombi groom back into race ready skiing. That will remain true for several days as long as temperatures remain below freezing. Eventually the classic track will get nicked up but even after a week of skate lane clean up the skate skiers will be on a wide, flat, hard and consistent surface. With no significant snow in the forecast and ideal temperatures, cross country skiers are looking at fabulous skiing for over the next week. I was thinking this is getting boring; and then I gave myself a dope slap: This is fabulous.
Saux Head: All trails were groomed and track set yesterday. Skiing will be excellent. Tim warns skiers to look for low branches due to deep snow and heavy snow on trees.
Big Bay Pathway: The Big Bay Pathway was groomed on Tuesday night, 12/31. The Hidden Grin Loop has a firm base, with nice classic tracks. There are a few sections that are a bit bumpy, however all downhill sections are in very good condition.
Fit Strip: Neil groomed all trails yesterday. Fit Strip should be in excellent condition today.
Snow Bike South Trails:
Groomers are out this morning and then again just after dark, hoping to have at least main and grey walls open. Lots of water issues likely, will update for tomorrow’s report.
Snow Bike North Trails: The Pine, Penstock, BLP Rocks loop and both Blue Heron and Collinsville up to top of the Dam are solid with recommended tire pressure 5 psi. Upper Blue Heron, Silver Lead and Upper Collinsville were groomed/plowed on Wednseday, and are expect to be ridable Thursday with 4 psi. Rambling Man has more snow and has been groomed multiple times since the storm.
THE FORESTVILLE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
