Way too Long Grooming Report:

I trust you got out yesterday.  It was awesome.  The snow was of the “hero” variety; fast, firm, and fair.  But, better yet, I nailed the clothing.  Of course, I do cheat by bringing a pack.  Real athletes just start out cold, knowing the have to generate heat by pushing hard all the way.  They got that, “it hurts so good” gene.  Some of us got the “fluffy” gene and a governor on our self-inflicting pain thing.  So, I ski the first K with a sacrificial layer that goes in the pack after the false flat near the start of Bagwagi.  Once at the ideal temperature it is easy to manage if you nailed the layers.  Having no shame, I freely admit a pair of hand warmers are stuffed under the zipper of my boots and another pair in my gloves. My wind stopper briefs have lost their wind stopping lining so thick snow pants were in order.  Then, I had the exact right wicking layer, vaper layer and semi-wind stopping layer.   I could have used a thicker balaclava but it was all good.  Life is so easy with the right clothing.

Saux Head:  Groomed and track set Friday morning. Tim reports , we have a ski heaven now!

.

Big Bay Pathway:  Big Bay pathway was groomed Saturday. High winds and extreme cold has caused snow drifting over the trails. Groomers will be out when conditions permit.

Meditation and Hidden Grin have single track set. Reggie reports Skiing on Meditation and Hidden Grin is very good.  Bear mountain trail has been rolled but has too many wet and low spots. We won’t be grooming it for a little while.

Fit Strip:  Niel groomed and track set all trails Saturday.  Skiing will be good for the rest of the year.

Snow Bike South Trails:

South trails groomed and cold temperatures are likely firming things up but please use low pressure.  Trails are likely still soft.

Snow Bike North Trails:

The following trails were groomed Sunday 1/9:

The Pines, Penstock, Lower and Upper Blue Heron, Silver Lead, Sand Box, and Collinsville.

Mildcat, Wildcat, Ramblin Man and Midnight Snack all groomed on 1/8

Mildcat and Midnight Snack still somewhat soft, other trails are firm and smooth.

The trails from Tourist Park to BLP are also in very good condition.
