Grooming January 12, 2020

Today’s report is brought to you by Bud and Marilyn Hart: Bud and Marilyn are trail builder sponsors on the Noque’. Without the support of folks like Bud and Marilyn, we would not have the great trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.

Trail Builder sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

Forestville: No grooming today. There will be some new snow on the trails and some drifts in open areas.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
Typically this is the area where I wax eloquently (read, “gas on ad nauseum if either of you have misplaced your Sondo decoder ring) on yesterday’s ski or some other nonsense. Today will be different. I will leave you to decide on the level of eloquence or quantity of sense but I took advantage of Down Wind’s fat bike demo day at Forestville. I know what skiers say if they have not been out on an ideal snow bike day: “Yes, I bet it is fun” or some such other faint praise. No, it is not fun; it is incredibly fun! It is like explaining color to the sightless. Climbing up the switch backs in silence but for labored breathing and zipping along the roller coaster down hills is exhilarating. The trails bring you along dramatic terrain that is difficult to access but for the groomed trail. We get to live in an area where there is a critical mass of snow bike enthusiast. This means we have a massive amount of snow biking. I have to add it up but it is dozens of miles to be sure. Now you may ask, which do I like best; cross country or snow biking. Of course they are both great and so different. It is like asking if you favor blue berry pie or geometric proofs. One would not wish to live in a world lacking either. Besides, who doesn’t need another capital intensive, weather dependent sport? See you out there.

Saux Head: Tim groomed and reset the track, 1/11/2020. Light snow Saturday night will have covered trails but it is fluffy snow.

Big Bay Pathway: The Hidden Grin Loop was groomed Friday the 10th. Light snow Saturday will have covered trails but it is fluffy snow.

If you do ski please be aware, this is classic only and you may find rough areas. The terrain quite rugged and does need a good deal of snow just to cover. Please let us know what you find. I have not been on the Big Bay trails yet (bad dog).

Fit Strip: Neil groomed Friday night. Light snow Saturday night will have covered trails but it is fluffy snow.

Snow Bike South Trails: Nick and Lori groomed everything currently open on South Trails Friday night including Main Loop, Enchantment, Mt. Marquette/Blue Loop, and Black to Border Grill. Heads up as there are still some water hazards on jeep trail descent and a few scattered locations.

Snow Bike North Trails: All of North Winter Trails were groomed Friday night and are in good riding condition for the weekend.

THE FORESTVILLE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
