January 16, 2019 Grooming Report
Today’s report is brought to you by the John Reinersten Family: The Reinersten family are trail builder sponsors on the Noque’. Without the support of folks like the Reinerstens we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.
Trail Builder sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.
Forestville: Andy took the Bully out to the pines on the Noque’ and Animoosh this morning.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
Yesterday’s ski to the Tourist Park was magical. The trail was well covered and freshly groomed all the way past the Tourist Park and even into the new section through the tourist park towards Wright Street. I did ski it all the way to Wright street but there are a number of road crossings and we have yet to put up proper signage or snow under the Dead River bridge so skiers have to look for the trail and remove skies a number of times so this section of trail is not officially open. However, the Tourist Park to Forestville trail is perhaps the best 8k in the entire system when it is open. There are four major hills (per FIS, over 98’ of gain) and a number of minor hills. The timber is mature forest with giant red and white pines along much of the trail and the rocky outcrops of “ROTC” rock and Pine Knob are spectacular to view. Snow is always an issue at the lower elevations but this year the snow gods have blessed us. Today the trails will be hard and smooth with 2” of cold fluff on top. It will be awesome. See you out there.
Saux Head: Tim groomed and reset the track, 1/13/2020.
Big Bay Pathway: Big Bay Pathway was groomed Wednesday the 15th. Expect an inch or two of new snow from Wednesday night.
If you do ski please be aware, this is classic only and you may find rough areas. The terrain quite rugged and does need a good deal of snow just to cover. Please let us know what you find. I have not been on the Big Bay trails yet (bad dog).
Fit Strip: Neil groomed Tuesday the 14th. The Fit Strip is groomed weekly or as needed following heavy snow events.
Snow Bike South Trails: Trails remain in very good shape with a light few inches of weekend snow. You will see some drifting in open areas. Friday night trails were groomed including Main Loop, Enchantment, Mt. Marquette/Blue Loop, and Black to Border Grill. Heads up as there are still some water hazards on jeep trail descent and a few scattered locations.
Snow Bike North Trails: All sections of North Trails are solid with good tractions. Drifting snow on trails near open areas were mostly cleared.
THE FORESTVILLE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
