Grooming January 17, 2021
Forestville: Heavy snow from Forestville to Co Rd 510 had groomers busy all night roll packing and then grooming. Everything from Forestville to Co Rd 510 was packed. Then they Ginzu groomed and track set the Noque to 510, Animoosh, Chiwagi and Bagwagi. Snow is deeper as you get to 510 so trails will likely be a bit soft.
Call for Rental Equipment: The equipment rentals at our Forestville Trailhead have been very popular this season. It has been great to see so many discovering skiing but the high use and required COVID sit period for boots occasionally leaves us in short supply. We could use extra classic and skate NNN boots, NNN classic no-wax skis or poles that you may have sitting around and would be willing to donate. Please drop off at Forestville any time 10-4 weekdays or 9-4 weekends. Thanks for your support!”
Noquemanon Ski Marathon Goes Virtual: Due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, the 2021 Noquemanon Ski will be a 100% virtual event this year. See details at the race web site: http://www.noquemanon.com/ . Following this weekend’s snow the race committee will designate a course. Keep an eye on the above link for up to the minute details and the grooming report will include details and the link each day.
Fit Strip: Some new snow but no report yet.
Big Bay Pathway: Some new snow but no report yet.
Saux Head: Some new snow but no report yet.
Snow Bike Trails:
NORTH TRAILS
No grooming but Roxin reports good riding. Today’s colder temperatures should have trails firm.
South Trails Grooming:
No grooming but Roxin reports good riding. Today’s colder temperatures should have trails firm.
WTLGR: No picture again today. I trust you both finished folding your sox into little balls, rebuilding that engine, cleaning the garage, remodeling that bathroom or writing that novel. Snow is back so all that other stuff is returning to where it belongs; second priority.
On an unrelated note, it seems yesterday’s photo location contest has created somewhat of a domestic disturbance. Tom offered Trondheim and Vicki is rather sure the location is Bodø. As mentioned, I am not sure of the city other than it was taken ca 1905 in northern Norway as a take off spot to Svalbard. It is hard to find a subject that can not be cleared up by a simple internet search. After all, show your phone to a bottle of wine and it will tell you where it was made and if it is any good. The same goes for music, works of art and bird songs. Domestic disputes of this type are all but gone from the developed world. Surely there is an ap to clear up and return Tom and Vicki to marital bliss (or at least to status quo ante). Remember, there are fabulous prizes at stake as well.
See you out there,
Sondo
