Forestville: Andy groomed the skate lanes on the Noque’ to 17k, Animoosh, Chiwagi bypass, Chiwagi hills, Bagwagi, Migizi, Gookookoo, Boozhoo, and Zhing. Classic tracks were best left alone and remain in good shape. Original plans were to also groom to Co Rd 510 but sled issues got in the way. A 510 grooming run is in the plans for tonight.
Saux Head: All trails were skate lane groomed yesterday morning. Classic tracks remain in good shape.
Snow Bike Trails: The entire north system groomed w the SnowDogs on 12/30. The South trails require more snow for grooming to be warranted. We will post an update as soon as we hear. I have not been South since the recent snow so please do drop a note if you have first hand information.
Fit Strip: The Fit Strip was roll packed but is still very thin. Neil says rock skis are needed if you go out. Think snow.
WTLGR: I trust everyone removed their concrete hat by the crack of noon and got on the boards; what a day to ski! All the heads of state were present. Quite a few of us rang the bell at Co Rd 510. With fast snow and a wonderful surface I am not sure we get full credit. You know, like when you won that wind aided 100 yard dash. Sure it was sub 10 seconds but you had a gale at your back. It will count but there’s an asterisk. I made the turn after 3 PM and figured I was home free. Some of us fear bumping into people that will see how slow we ski. So, I’m about 1k into my return and half a dozen skiers fly by on the way out. Between them they sum less body fat than one of my legs. Fearing the worst, I got on my horse and turned up the gas (I do apologize for mixing metaphors) in the hope they would not close the gap. One of a skier’s greatest fears is the ignominy of being caught from behind. I can only expect they were abducted by aliens or suffered a ruptured aneurysm. In any case, I got to the car safely after a thrilling run back down. I do hope you all got out.
See you out there,
Sondo
