Grooming January 23, 2020

Today’s report is brought to you by Mark Stevens:     Mark is a trail builder sponsor on the Noque’.  Without the support of folks like Mark we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect.  If you see him, say thanks.

Trail Builder sections are available.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

Forestville:   Groomers are focused upon Noquemanon Ski Marathon race preparation.  (virtually) All trails were groomed for yesterday morning and light traffic will mean they will still be in great shape.  Doug and Ken are getting out with the Ginzu to clean up skate lanes on high traffic trails of the Noque and Animoosh and all the way to the Dome in preparation for Saturday’s Noquemanon Ski Marathon.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

I put wax on my skis yesterday.  I know you must be wondering, who is this guy.  Well, I do wax a few times a year and the week before the Noque’ the boards get some real attention.  I know Lincoln gets credit for saying it first but I like the way Coco Chanel said it best, “Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. Life shapes the face you have at thirty. But at fifty you get the face you deserve.”. Now some of you only use your “good” skis when conditions warrant but I view it like a game of chess. When playing White, I tend to mix things up early with the Danvers Opening and start with the queen. I know it is risky and I frequently get my nose bloodied in both situations. Anyway, I have some nicks to deal with but I can use them Saturday afternoon when looking for reasons why it took so long to ski 50k.

The race site has real information on the trail and events;  https://www.noquemanon.com/  It is a wonderful event and we are so blessed to live in such an area.  I am still a few months short of where I want to be but next year…

Saux Head:  All trails groomed and track set Monday the 20th. Skiing should be fabulous today.

Big Bay Pathway:  The big bay pathway, was groomed Monday (1/20).  Big Bay Pathway should be in excellent condition given the extremely deep snow pack.

Fit Strip:  Fit Strip was groomed yesterday and should be in very good shape.  Fit Strip is groomed weekly or as conditions warrant.

Snow Bike South Trails: Trails were plowed Saturday and again Sunday. Trails will be firm with some loose snow in small areas.

Snow Bike North Trails: As of Tuesday night all North Trails in the system are rideable and firm. Riding will be great today.

THE FORESTVILLE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4.  Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
