Today’s report is brought to you by Hiawatha Home Inspection and Michael Sauer: The Mike and Hiawatha Home Inspection are trail builder sponsors on the Noque’. Without the support of folks like Mike and Hiawatha Home Inspection, we would not have the great trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.
Trail Builder sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
We have called it “Bombi” grooming for so long it is going to be hard to use a new name. The working title will be “Bully” groomed until a contest winner is named. I am reminded of a co-worker from a life time ago. The company was in a growth mode so new staff joined every few weeks. Nick names were especially important when common first names were in play. A good friend to this day is still called “Six” as a result of their being five other “Jeffs”. Most often monikers are organic and their creation is spontaneous regardless attempts to formalize the process. Anyway, several of us were at the water cooler (I don’t think we actually had a water cooler; that is an informal moniker used for generic areas where important stand up meeting take place) discussing what to call Jim when Marty overheard and said, “Oh, you mean “Radio”?” Radio had a booming baritone that caught everyone’s attention over the P.A. So, it may be there is already a name in use and I am simply behind the power curve. I frequently don’t get the memo. So, if I am in the dark or you feel the current working title is inadequate, please do throw us a bone. In any case, all trails inside 17k will be fabulous today. By my estimation, skiing everything once; Noque’ out, Animoosh back, Bagwagi via Gookookoo out and Chiwagi/Migize back plus the inside loops will yield my 30k without need for a second pass on any trail. I was told there wouldn’t bee any math questions on this gig so please forgive me if the estimate is off. For bar talk, I am going to say it is 30k until either one of you does the math. Enjoy. See you out there. I’ll be the one with the smile (or grimace depending on time of day).
Saux Head: Tim groomed and reset the track, Saturday, 1/4/2020. I expect Saux Head also received about 2”+ new so expect some new snow on the trail.
Big Bay Pathway: The Hidden Grin Loop was groomed today. With a fresh 4” of snow, the tracks are very nice. It is gorgeous out there!
If you do ski please be aware, this is classic only and you may find rough areas. The terrain quite rugged and does need a good deal of snow just to cover. Please let us know what you find. I have not been on the Big Bay trails yet (bad dog).
Fit Strip: Neil groomed Monday and reports very good skiing.
Snow Bike South Trails: Main loop and enchantment are open, “probably” firm except for the 3”+ from Sunday.
East side (mt mqt/blue loop) is open, with some drifted areas on north side and some water hazards on jeep trail descent.
Snow Bike North Trails: North Trails remain in very good riding condition. Wildcat is snowshoe packed and hard enough to ride on (please stay in the singletrack avoiding ski trails). You will find several inches of fresh snow from this week.
THE FORESTVILLE TRAIL HEAD CHALET IS OPEN! Chalet hours are 7 AM to 10 PM and rental equipment is available between 10 and 4. Space is still limited during construction but come in and enjoy the fire and company.
