November 14, 2019 Grooming Report
GROOMING INFORMATION: Cold weather has kept the trails skiable on the flat sections of the Noque’ and Animoosh as far as the pine plantation. No classic tracks have been set due to thin snow but classic skiers have skied in a path on most trails.
Not Even Grooming Related: Having skied each day since our initial snowfall on the 8th I did fancy skiing every day all season. In a previous life a certain grooming report writer had the perfect college job for 3 years at the ski hill. Being under capitalized each semester the day began with an 8:00 AM class and then straight to Cliffs Ridge to work in the sports shop and then back to night classes. Selling and mounting skies with an hour lunch on the hill was hard to beat. By my count I was on the boards 152 consecutive days (including hike up days in the spring and fall). Then today I awoke with a cold and am considering whether Falstaff was right. He famously quips “The better part of valor, is discretion; in the which better part, I have saved my life.(sic)” after he has played dead on the battle field. I don’t want to catch my death of a cold. Anyway, I always felt Falstaff got a bad rap and was not simply comic relief. After all, the real life character was burned alive as a heretic. And then there is the inspiring story of Dale Webster and his 14,641 consecutive days surfing until gall stone surgery made him skip a few days. I wonder how many times he had a runny nose. The day is still young. (Maybe) I’ll see you out there.
NON-GROOMING INFORMATION: Be sure to purchase your membership. With more money we could provide better skiing. You don’t want to get caught skiing without an arm band. And, for you trail builders, don’t let your prime k marker spot go to someone else. We will be tracking you down in the days ahead. You can save yourself the time of reading another way too long email and the grooming report writer’s guild the time to write a way too long email. Call Kellie or go on line and renew. In any case, you know who you are. See you on the trails,
Sondo
