November 20, 2018; Grooming Report
Forestville Real Grooming Report: A foot of new snow yesterday had groomers burning the midnight oil last night. We (I had a mouse in my pocket) roll pack a wide swath on the Noque’ to and around the pine plantation as well as Animoosh (including “New Animoosh” and “New New Animoosh” for those of you that remember the evolution of Animoosh). Snow depth at the pine plantation and points west was such that it buried the roller. The roller would not roll over the snow and we had to run the machine to pack first. Once roll packed Andy went out for second shift and set tracks and dressed the skate lane. This many passes and this morning’s cold temperatures will likely have trails fairly well set considering the volume of snow. We will next work on the Wagis (Bagwagi and Chiwagi and related hilly sections for the uninitiated). Tomorrow we should be able to work on opening up west of the pine plantation.
Way Too Long Grooming Report: I do hope you all had the opportunity to ski some of the early season conditions last week. It was good but clearly, early season skiing. I know it is conventional to say, “I like an instant jump into mid-season conditions”. However, it messes with the world order. I am reminded of my brother Dick’s Cino Cinelli bike. We were in Boston and he was helping me purchase my first bike back in the early 70s. I still have the U08 Puguot. Anyway, I asked him why his Cinelli was so much more expensive and he explained it in detail. And then told me I really wouldn’t understand it until I rode the Pugot for a few years. I fear for any who missed the early season skiing this year.

PS: Skiers are reminded to wear orange and to respect hunters. And, hunters are reminded not to shoot skiers with orange hats. No grooming can take place during the day until December 1st to keep the woods quiet during fire arm deer season.
