ABOUT THE VALLEY SPUR TRAILS
The Valley Spur Trails outside Munising are a favorite destination for cross country skiers, hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts. The trails provide over 45 kilometers of cross country skiing and thanks to heavy lake effect snow and the dedicated efforts of the Friends of Valley Spur are groomed daily from December through March. In the summer, Valley Spur transforms into a flowy singletrack destination thanks to the efforts of the Munising Bay Trail Network. Located on the Hiawatha National Forest, the trails here are a story of partnership with dedicated local volunteers (Friends of Valley Spur) stepping in to support winter operations and Munising Bay Trail Network (MBTN) building out the singletrack system. The Friends of Valley Spur exist as a committee under the Noquemanon Trail Network with representation from MBTN on the Committee and the NTN holding the operating permit with the Hiawatha National Forest. It takes a community.
Valley Spur Trails are located in the Hiawatha National Forest and authorized by permit from the US Forest Service.
