Grooming January 1 , 2021 Happy New Year!
Forestville: Classic tracks were still in good shape and grooming could not improve them. So, Andy groomed the skate lanes on Noque to 17k, Animoosh, Migizi, Mukwa, Chiwagi via bypass, Boozhoo and Zhing. In addition, Bagwagi had only been rolled so he groomed and now there is a track set on Bagwagi. With no new snow and continued below freezing temperatures, the trail from 17k to Co Rd 510 should still be in very good condition as well.
Saux Head: All trails will be skate lane groomed this morning. Classic tracks remain in good shape. Expect excellent skiing on all trails.
Snow Bike Trails: The entire north system groomed w the SnowDogs on 12/30 Trails were a little soft as of Wednesday afternoon, Heavy foot traffic near access spots has those areas somewhat rough. The South trails require more snow for grooming to be warranted. We will post an update as soon as we hear. I have not been South since the recent snow so please do drop a note if you have first hand information.
WTLGR: I know the picture has nothing to do with skiing but there is more to life than skiing; like, skating. We cleared off the pond yesterday and had a wonderful New Year’s Eve skating party. It is amazing how “Not very much snow” when wearing a ski hat turns into, “Wow, there is a lot of snow” when you put on your hocky rink shoveling hat. Check out the size of the rink; and the ice is like glass. With no snow in the forecast so skating out the back door may be in the plan, in between skiing and the sauna.
And now a note on yesterday’s comments re: “hitting the clothing”. A letter poured in from Eric and it is official. I am not skiing nearly hard enough if I don’t need to remove a full layer during a ski. The very idea one could control body heat by merely unzipping a wind stopper vest is just silly. I am to turn it up at least two notches. I have on the hair shirt today so won’t even be thinking about warmth (because this thing is so scratchy).
See you out there,
Sondo
