Grooming February 25, 2020
Today’s report is brought to you by Silas Auto and Truck Service: Silas Auto and Truck Service is a Double Black Diamond sponsor on the Single Track trails in Marquette. Without the support of folks like Silas Auto and Truck Service we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect. If you see them, say thanks.
Trail Builder sections and Snow Bike trail sections are available. Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links. You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.
Forestville: Andy is taking the Bully on a double pass on all trails inside 14k and then setting track. Expect excellent skiing.

Way too Long Grooming Report:
Lots to say today (and it will be on the test). First; I am anxious to ski Forestville today. After three days of thaw, grooming with the Piston Bully will be put to the test. I am putting my money on conditions being race ready. In years past, we would scratch the surface a number of times with the Ginzu in an attempt to shave enough “snow” to provide ok skiing. Tilling this type of snow with this type of equipment is what it is made for. I’ll report tomorrow; but, again, my money is on excellent skiing today.
Second; check out John R’s picture of Bagwagi from Sunday. Note the classic track perfection and the snowshoe hare tracks (I think, let me know if you think it is another critter). Much of the Midwest has lost its snowshoe hare population.
Finally, I find the saying “great minds think alike” appropriate. Of course, I tend to hear the corollary (fools seldom differ) far more frequently. Check out the photo Justin sent in. I don’t know how we missed each other. They must have gotten to the top of Hogback just minutes after from the other side. Late February is the time to ski Hogback regardless the truism.
Saux Head: All trails were groomed and track set Saturday the 22nd. I expect best skiing will be after today’s temperature gets above freezing. Please let us know what it is like today.
Big Bay Pathway: Denis groomed Monday the 17th. I expect best skiing will be after today’s temperature gets above freezing. Please let us know what it is like today.
Fit Strip: Neil groomed all trails Monday the 24th. If you do ski the Fit Strip please let us know what you found.
Snow bike trails format comments:
I did ride South trails starting at the Carp River mouth trail head east of Mt. Marquette. I rode up the Carp to Benson, Greywalls, Enchantment, Mt. Marquette loop, etc (I get lost and don’t know all the names). However, I did ride lower trails and upper trails early in the day and they were all great. There were only a few spots where riders with too much PSI cut into the base and they were all easily avoided. There were a few deep foot prints but no “post holes”. I expect yesterday’s grooming will have trails in excellent shape. I did not hear any reports on the North trails but expect a similar story. Please do let us know if you have any information.
