Dirt Ball
May 8, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
FreeYes! And just like that, it’s NTN DirtBall time! This year we continue to adapt in the time of Covid. For 2021 we will have Dig Day in the morning from 9am-12pm; Trail Ambassadors will be at the trailhead from 9am-4pm to talk trails, help you renew your memberships, and with NTN gear for sale; and a Scavenger Hunt will start at South Trailhead at 2pm. More details on all things Dirt Ball:
1. TRAILS PREPPED. Over 60 volunteers grabbed their family/household units/friends and already cleared the bulk of the trails to get them ready for all. Each of those folks will be receiving a discount from Blackrocks Brewery this week! If you were one of the 60, watch your email for details!
2. DIG. Please carve out a few hours to help out at the following dig locations on Saturday including:
Location 1: Schwemwood Park off of Co. Rd. 492. Mike B. will be there with the tools, you just need to bring your work gloves and energy.
Location 2: Powell Township Recreation Area. Nick and Jer will be on site for continued work on Powell Peak Trail. We need extra hands to finish this project off. Can we do it next Saturday, we hope so! Please bring your work gloves, a shovel if you have one (there’s sand and dirt to move), and your energy.
Location 3: Forestville Ski Trails between Trailhead and Powerline. We are hopeful Longyear will be done with logging operations this week. The trails need debris cleared after the cut. We will call this project “Pick up sticks”. Please bring your work gloves, cutting and lopping tools, and your energy. We will have someone on site to distribute volunteers across the affected trails.
Please have a mask in case of close work locations and social distance as appropriate.
3. HAVE SOME FUN. We want everyone to get out and run/hike/bike or walk the dog on your favorite NTN Trail and share your adventure either below or on your social media with the hashtag #ntndirtball Let’s show the community what trails mean to you. A scavenger hunt kicks off at 2pm with Blackrocks flights, ice cream coupons, and NTN swag on the line. Pick up cue cards from the NTN Trail Ambassador table located at South Trailhead at 2pm.
4. CELEBRATE WITH A BLACKROCKS. Support our local sponsor businesses including our title sponsor. Be sure to point your bike or car to Blackrocks and enjoy a cold one in celebration of trails. Blackrocks has a donation jar a taproom so you can toss some dollars to NTN trails.
5. SUPPORT. Please consider renewing your NTN membership or joining as a member or toss a few extra dollars towards trail efforts. Our NTN Trail Ambassadors will be at the South Trailhead from 9am-4pm Saturday to talk trails, give ride/run suggestions, help renew your membership, and/or hook you up with some NTN gear. Every dollar counts as NTN will be working hard to keep on task with some great trail projects and improvements this summer. If you are already a member, show us your current member card or sticker by sharing a pic or video with #ntndirtball
Just a few fun and easy things to keep the love of dirt going.
