April 13, 2020 Grooming Report

GROOMING WILL CONTINUE with Ginzu  as long as we can!

Today’s report is brought to us by the NTN Grooming Staff and Volunteers.  GROOMING OUR SKI TRAILS IS NECESSARY!   Lori and Nick, and I expect others, are out roll packing regularly during the storm in preparation to have something groomed for skiers Tuesday.  If you see someone that is providing required services, please thank them.  Please do what you can to help.  Buy local.

Please help us continue to groom as long as possible.  You may follow the link   https://noquetrails.org/product/nordic-fund/ and contribute or feel free to contact the office or reply to this grooming report.  No contribution is too small.

Trail memberships can be purchased on the web site.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

SPRING SCHEDULE IN EFFECT:  Trail Head is closed and the privy is locked.  Practice save social distancing and enjoy the beautiful skiing.

Forestville:  Today looks to be blustery and skinny skies are best left in the quiver.  I expect anxious skiers will be looking for powder pockets in which to make turns or climbing Hog Back Mountain or cleaning the random-supplies-and-eclectic-small-tool drawer in the kitchen.  Imagine what we will find for tomorrow’s report.

Yesterday, in case you did fear the Easter Bunny was not practicing safe social distancing.

Yesterday, the only(?) one to ring the bell at Co Rd 510.  It was grand.  No problem spots on the Noque’ (other than foot prints from 21k – 23k).  The Mead bypass has several large water crossings and the eastern most hill top is bare for 50 meters.  It is about time to begin “The last ski to 510 contest”.  Photographic evidence is required.  I should add, now that Tim Cook has make your GPS track public, you will have to show you have not driven on Co Rd 510 for the past two weeks.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

Friends of St. Wigbert have waited centuries for a named storm and now it comes on the first Sunday following the first full moon following the vernal equinox.  Poor Wigbert never saw the Gregorian calendar coming and now look what its done.  In any case, while school children everywhere will remember this storm as being either the fourth day of Passover  storm or the Easter storm, due to arcane rules beyond the scope of today’s missive, this is officially the Treaty of Paris day storm as it ended the awful war known now as the Albigensian Crusade (or the Cathar Crusade depending upon which side you resided). Celebrate it from a safe social distance.

Saux Head:

Deep snow on all trails.

Big Bay Pathway:

Deep snow on all trails.

Fit Strip:  Grooming has been suspended.  Expect some bare spots.

Snow Bike Trails:  Deep snow on all trails.
