Way too Long Grooming Report:  This is the section of the report where I will typically gas on about some inane subject. Instead, today, I will gas on about an important subject; grooming.  Lori has called on us to shovel snow on the power line section just west of the trail head. This section of trail is both wind swept and exposed to full sun; a bad combination.  It is typically one of the first areas to lose snow and it is a pinch point to the rest of the trail system; all trails cross the power lines. The trail is 18’ wide so by my calculation (and remember, I took this gig not knowing they would be any math questions), all three of us could be shoveling and still maintain the necessary six foot safe distance.  We have cold nights forecast into next week but daytime highs near 50f with sun will put a hurt on this one critical section. If we all grab a shovel and park at the “Doctor’s” lot (I’ll explain why it is called the Doctor’s lot some other time) we can insure more grooming.  In fact, Lori let slip that the Bully may come out for another curtain call either tonight or Friday night if we do our part.  By my count, this would be the third “final” Bully run.  So, please don’t let Elvis leave the building without hearing your voice and stomping feet; that is, by getting on the business end of a shovel and placing copious amounts of snow where it is needed under the power lines just east of the 11k sign.  I’ll see you both there.

Saux Head:

Several bare spots have developed so grooming has been suspended for the season unless the Mother’s day storm warrants it.

Big Bay Pathway:

Grooming has been suspended for the season unless the Mother’s day storm warrants it.

Fit Strip:  Grooming has been suspended.  Expect some bare spots.

Snow Bike Trails:

North Trails: I am very interested to see some pictures of the North trails.  I expect most of the lower elevation is bare.  However, I have no idea how it is near Forestville.  There is a lot of snow in the woods.  However, narrow hard pack trails often tend to become a crown of icy snow and impossible to ride.  Please send a picture and any comments on related injuries.

South Trails: Grooming is done on the South trails for the season.
