Forestville Trails:

No grooming until more snow.  Trail Head Chalet Closed.

The pictures tell the story (and it is not all bad). I have included all of these pictures to help tell that story.  This is not a case of a news broadcast showing devastation to drive ratings but rather to help both of you plan your day (and days to come).  Comments follow the pictures.

When the cup is ½ full I just see 50% too much cup. Of course, critic calls me a hopeless optimist.  Be that as it may, look at these pictures.  Sure there is ice and dirt but also large areas of solid base.  These pictures were taken at the lower sections of trail.  The power line picture at 11k is particularly bad but it is only 50 meters long.   The trail system gains elevation as it moves westward.  I expect more than 95% of the Noque’ is skiable based on these pictures.  However, our trail head and grooming equipment is at the lower end of the Upper Noque’ (if that makes sense).  The 10k of trail east of the trail head is referred to as the Lower Noque’.  So, the groomers will remain in the barn until snow covers the newly bare ground.

Today’s freeze will have the existing base sections boiler plate ice but overnight snow in the higher elevations could make for wonderful skiing today near the Co Rd 510 trail head.  I do hope to put that dumb-things-I-godda-do list in its place but it will be after the crack of noon at best.  If you get out please do rub it in, and send pictures.

Saux Head Trails:  I expect a mix of ice and bare spots until more snow.

Fit Strip:  I expect a mix of ice and bare spots until more snow.

Snow Bike “North Trails”  I expect a mix of ice and bare spots until more snow.

Snow Bike “South Trails”   I expect a mix of ice and bare spots until more snow.

See you out there,

Sondo
