Grooming February 28, 2021

Today’s report is brought to you by Sam and Mary Graci of Superior Timing.  Sam and Mary are  Legacy Sponsors.  Their significant financial contribution helps NTN bring you Great skiing, biking, hiking and the silent sports world we have come to enjoy.  If you see them, please say thanks.  Grooming and grooming reports are brought to you for your skiing, biking and literary(?) enjoyment.  If you enjoy what we do, please consider a financial contribution to support the cause.

Forestville:  Andy ran the ‘Bully for a short loop last night in case the snow event came a little late.  So skiers have fresh ‘Bully skiing with classic track on the Noque to 14k and Animoosh to 14k.  New snow is forecast to begin falling about 11 AM.

Fit Strip:  The Fit Strip was groomed and track set the 27th.

Big Bay Pathway:    Groomed on the 24th. Yesterday’s thaw may have the trails glazed.  Let us know what you find.

Saux Head:  All trails groomed and set track  25th.

Snow Bike Trails:

NORTH TRAILS

Lyle reports the freeze thaw cycle of last 2 days has the trails in less than ideal conditions.

Sun exposed and south facing trails are becoming exposed and in many cases have an icy surface.

This is especially true close to the river.

Blue Heron Trail is very icy and treacherous as you come up from the river to the dam overlook.

Soft conditions have also resulted in some rutting which then froze and are difficult to groom out without additional snow.

Grooming:

2/26/21: Upper Loop (Silver Lead/Peter’s Sandbox/Collinsville/BLP Rocks/Blue Heron/Upper Blue Heron) + Rambling Man

2/25/21: Wildcat and Midnite Snack

2/24/21: Lower Collinsville/Penstock/The Pines

South Trails Grooming:  I expect the freeze/thaw cycle has hit some of the south trails.  No word on grooming by press time.  Let us know what you find if you get out.

WTLGR:  A self described ski snob commented it was likely to be a little icy yesterday so he would not be

Way Too Long Grooming Report

I received a text from a self described ski snob yesterday.  He said he would skip skiing because it might be a little icy.  He feared a Ginzu run would not leave race ready conditions. With apologies to the great grooming report writers Joe Young and Sam Lewis,  How ya gonna keep ‘em down on the Ginzu grooming after they’ve seen ‘Bullee (sic).  I’m old enough to remember Camelot; not that Camelot, … or even that one.  I am thinking of the great grooming report writers Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot.  The original third verse was supposed to say icy conditions were forbidden but they couldn’t get the rhythm and rhyme to work.  Everyone knows, in Camelot it only rains at night and it always snows right after a thaw.  No ice tomorrow.

See you out there,

Sondo
