Grooming March 7, 2020

Today’s report is brought to you by Meijer:  Meijer is a Black Diamond sponsor on the NTN trails.  Without the support of folks like Meijer we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect.  If you see them, say thanks.

Trail sponsorships are available.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

So, while the WTLGR is AWOL, I am actually doing technical research for up coming reports.  I might add, it is not always easy (or safe for that matter).  For example, regardless what you are told, it turns out hissing alligators don’t like to have their bellies rubbed.  I also learned how to make suture material out of those little cuties bags.

Saux Head:  All trails were roll packed yesterday and will be groomed and track set this morning.

Big Bay Pathway:    Hidden Grin trail of the Big Bay Pathway was groomed Friday the 6th.   The trail is in excellent condition.   The new snow is great and the track is excellent conditions.  Dennis

Fit Strip:  The lit loop was groomed yestereay.

North Trails comments:

I have not heard from the North Trails but do expect some have been groomed.  If you get out let us know.

South Trails:   Jeremiah was out for a long time.

Uff da. Plowed open south beach, mt mqt loop, main, enchantment, oak hill. Deep drifted snow made slow going, but these loops are mostly firm. Drift zones will have some soft spots, and anywhere with tall banks may have some rubble. 3-4 psi for least soft snow surprises.

No definitive time frame for greywalls and border grill, keep an eye on the trail report.

Meltdown this weekend will affect grooming operations, but we got something for you to ride! Enjoy!

Mt Mqt (East) – firm

Har-Lang (BG Connector) – unplowed

East Greywalls – unplowed

Main (Benson/Freak) – mostly firm

West Greywalls – unplowed

Enchantment – mostly firm

Oak Hill – mostly firm

Old Camp Ridge – closed (trees)

PPP – snow

Grooming and Forestville Chalet Updates

While winter does march on, we also know we are on the brink of Spring.  It is the time of year that we have to balance trail demands with grooming resources. Starting today, grooming at Forestville will begin to ramp back. You will continue to see multiple grooms a week on the core of the system but only one run to 510 each week. The 510 run will be done on Friday night as part of a full groom of the system in preparation for the weekend. Singletrack grooming will be on an as needed basis but expect variable conditions during spring freeze-thaw cycles. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the daily trail report and facebook for updates when making plans. We hope you have enjoyed and continue to enjoy some best days ever on the trail.

New Trail Host and Rental Hours:  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am-4pm
If you should need equipment on other days, please call the NTN office. This is a great time to give a shout out to our wonderful volunteer trail hosts for giving of their time throughout the season! Chalet hours remain 7am-10pm.
