Grooming March 9, 2020

Today’s report is brought to you by U.P. Cross: U.P. Cross is a Black Diamond sponsor on the NTN trails.  Without the support of folks like U. P. Cross we would not have the excellent trails we have come to expect.  If you see them, say thanks.

Trail sponsorships are available.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

SPRING SCHEDULE IN EFFECT:  New Spring Trail Host and Rental Hours:  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am-4pm
If you should need equipment on other days, please call the NTN office. This is a great time to give a shout out to our wonderful volunteer trail hosts for giving of their time throughout the season! Chalet hours remain 7am-10pm.

We will also be adjusting the grooming schedule.  Please see full spring plans below.

Forestville:  Warm weather again has the groomers parked today.  It may be nice spring skiing but please stay off if the base is too soft to support your skies. Groomers will be out tomorrow after the hard freeze.  The Bully groomer will make this good skiing again.

Sorry, still AWOL

Saux Head:  All trails were groomed and track set Saturday.  The thaw will have hurt the trails.  Trails will be icy if below freezing.

Big Bay Pathway:    Hidden Grin trail of the Big Bay Pathway was groomed Friday the 6th.   The thaw will have hurt the trails.  Trails will be icy if below freezing.

Fit Strip:  The lit loop was groomed yesterday.  The thaw will have hurt the trails.  Trails will be icy if below freezing.

North Trails comments:

I have not heard from the North Trails but do expect some have been groomed.  If you get out let us know.   The thaw may have hurt the trails.  Please watch your tire pressure so no “pizza cutting”.

South Trails:   *Jer’s last report for two weeks, good luck out there Mike*

Did some touch ups last night, including packing greywalls. Border grill is questionable to get sled through, it may be done for the season. Depending on snow loss over the next couple warm days, grooming may get shut down entirely.

Trails are pretty firm, some variable spots. Avoid riding in the afternoon on days above freezing to preserve trails. Morning rides should be super solid for some time.

Mt Mqt (East) – firm

Har-Lang (BG Connector) – unplowed, variable

East Greywalls – mostly firm

Main (Benson/Freak) – firm

West Greywalls – mostly firm

Enchantment – firm

Oak Hill – mostly firm

Old Camp Ridge – closed (trees)

PPP – snowshoe packed

Seppi – snowshoe packed

Bob’s Sled – closed (trees)

Eh Line – closed (trees)

Shirley’s – closed, high water

IOHT to South Beach – plowed

Grooming and Forestville Chalet Updates

While winter does march on, we also know we are on the brink of Spring.  It is the time of year that we have to balance trail demands with grooming resources. Starting today, grooming at Forestville will begin to ramp back. You will continue to see multiple grooms a week on the core of the system but only one run to 510 each week. The 510 run will be done on Friday night as part of a full groom of the system in preparation for the weekend. Singletrack grooming will be on an as needed basis but expect variable conditions during spring freeze-thaw cycles. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the daily trail report and facebook for updates when making plans. We hope you have enjoyed and continue to enjoy some best days ever on the trail.

New Trail Host and Rental Hours:  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am-4pm
If you should need equipment on other days, please call the NTN office. This is a great time to give a shout out to our wonderful volunteer trail hosts for giving of their time throughout the season! Chalet hours remain 7am-10pm.
