May 1, 2020 Not a Grooming Report

Trail Head is closed and the privy is locked.  Practice save social distancing and enjoy the beautiful skiing.

Way Too Long Grooming Report: I expect hope wish you missed me and were wondering what happened to the Grooming Report; or, more importantly, the WTLGR.  Lacking a real market research department, I am left to information from some tea leaves or goat or chicken entrails someone read somewhere.  When I am in my happy place I imagine both of you clambering down the stairs every day to see what the grooming report fairy brought.  I imagine you skipping the actual report in deference to the meat of the subject; the WTLGR.  Then, on the days when witticism escaped me and there was only the actual report you would be crestfallen; “You mean I clambered down the stairs for this?”.  So, in this “Not a Grooming Report” season, some critter paid the ultimate price and WTLGRs will only be published when the critic feels there is actual witticism.  That has not yet occurred; hence, the “radio” silence.  I should hasten to add, don’t expect any today wit today either.  This report is being published under a one time exception as a public service announcement so you know not to look for regular reports until we scrape off summer storage wax in November.  Please know, we do still get out on the trails and reports are filed.  Regular readers will recall how we feel like poor Basil Pascali in Barry Unsworth’s novel.  Ben Kingsley plays the title role in a wonderful screen adaptation as he submits unread reports to a crumbling Ottoman Empire. However, take heart.  Just as blind squirrels find acorns, a report may have wit and the critic will approve publication.

In the mean time, check out the shot Jeff send from his ski yesterday.  Note the base thickness at Grand Central.  I expect a ski to 510 would only require the occasional ski removal at water crossings.  Who is going to win the “Last Ski to 510” contest and, the coveted, “Last Ski of the Season” contest? Skiers are permitted to begin from the “Doctor’s” parking lot.  I am on my way to the trail head.
