April 16, 2020 Grooming Report

Today’s report is brought to us by the NTN Grooming Staff and Volunteers.  If you see someone that is providing required services, please thank them.  Please do what you can to help.  Buy local.

Please help us continue to groom as long as possible.  You may follow the link   https://noquetrails.org/product/nordic-fund/ and contribute or feel free to contact the office or reply to this grooming report.  No contribution is too small.

Trail memberships can be purchased on the web site.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org and follow the links.  You too can be feted in an up coming grooming report.

SPRING SCHEDULE IN EFFECT:  Trail Head is closed and the privy is locked.  Practice save social distancing and enjoy the beautiful skiing.

Forestville:  Lori and Nick did Ginzu cleanup of skate lanes on Noque and Animoosh to the end of the Pines last night.  Doug hit a bunch of trails earlier in the day but at press time we were not sure of everything….  Should be good skiing today but cosmetics may be off a little as the snow was dry and brittle and weird to work with.

PS; Lori wants you both to know that we will deploy Andy with the Bully just one more time for a final final (really) Bully groom of the season tomorrow night. Expect pretty darn good to excellent skiing to 510 on Friday until the warm up on Saturday.

Way too Long Grooming Report:

Mo was explaining how he keeps sports in their respective seasons and eschews snow bikes for that reason.  I expect he meant for us to ski six months and bike six months; fair enough.  However, some of us get up to 16f in late April and think it is time for spring skiing to begin.  Then, I see Lori’s midnight grooming picture and snap out of it. God gave us long underwear and blue wax for a reason.  Imagine how great it will be today; cold dry freshly groomed trails with full sun and high temperatures in the low 30s; can it get much better? Remember in January wishing for some double digit highs?  In a few short weeks we will be sweating on the beach putting on a water ski wishing for those 16f mornings with fresh grooming; no?

Saux Head:

Tim groomed and set track yesterday noon on the three loops and reported it was excellent.

The Wilson Creek section was not touched due to insufficient base conditions.

Big Bay Pathway:

No report at press time

Fit Strip:  Grooming has been suspended.  Expect some bare spots.

Snow Bike Trails:

North Trails: The Pines, Penstock, BLP Rocks, Collinsville to trail head loop was groomed again Wednesday afternoon. Ridable in low temperature for the next a few days.

South Trails: Grooming is done on the South trails for the season.
